When I was on a proper full delivery I never saw 7:30pm. The combination of fresh air, exercise and getting up early (as it was then) knackered me out.

There's got to be some sort of investigation into this walking business soon. I am used to being on my feet all day after spending many years in retail but surely walking 4 hours a day every day isn't what we're made for any more?!
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

to complete 2 rounds parcels specials 2 people 1 van
we have to run or walk nearly running
it shouldn't be like that
it should be a nice walk were you dont feel like dropping dead half way round.

trying to get this across to any manager is like talking to grass
i think it should be there turn for a week while we manage the offices

see what they say

I'm not fit but not really unfit either. When i get home my feet ache and i feel like i've been playing footy or something.
Sorting for an hour or hour and half,2 hours+ prep and often 4 hours delivery, sometimes break at back end.
Who was that idiot that said postmen made 2 hours a day.
They can't make us go out for longer i don't care how much mail drops off or how much prep time is cut down. Not physically possible day in day out.
They come up with these stupid prep and ips sorting rates and tell us we can do an extra 50 houses cos our rounds are under but they are driving us in to the ground.

I'm knackered most days and look forward to any time off I can get but I agree with the long term implications, we've lost 1 through a hip problem and watching half the office limp around with leg/knee/hip/back injuries.

Totally agree with every thing you said.Compared to other places I have worked the amount of people with health problems is amazing.I wandered if the Union have ever looked into this or would want to look into this?

what does make me think is that the government and doctors say that the uk is unfit and unhealthy. they don't want to look at the side of the fence they should be looking at. and put it mildly, it is awful when you see fellow workmates like you say, hobbling along. its not the type of job that somebody could grin and bear it for a short time. these are serious issues. i doubt if the union wants to know which is bewildering to start with. and it is of no benefit at all if an employee is just too knackard to enjoy a social life
