Private Eye issue 1231

Post by bedfordrl »

Under "HP sauce" page 6 ,(don't know how to do a link) .

I quote " Apart from general opposition from home ,the pension move has to clear European law banning unfair "state aid". To achieve this ,any government help has to leave the Royal Mail standing on its own two feet. This could well, according to the to the small print of Hooper's report, involve the "closure of the final-salary pension scheme to existing members".

In the next paragraph they discuss T.N.T..

Apparently T.N.T.s British subsidiary,in 2004, has been involved in the past with tax avoidance to the tune of between 100 to 250 million euros,it will not say how much.

But this is the bit that is more pertinent to us, and again i quote,"As well as tax avoidance ,T.N.T. has other issues that might bother opponents of Mandy's scheme.T.N.T. has actually tried to weaken the postal service in the past,in particular by persuading the E.U. to launch an investigation into government loans to Royal Mail in 2007, which T.N.T. argued were illegal subsidies.
Oh,and in its current annual report T.N.T. lists one of its " barriers to competition"the "generally binding" minimum wage .This should go down well with the unions."

Lots of food for thought there then!!!!!.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
