You know, where there has to be BY LAW 11 hrs between shifts.
Was mentioned by NOTYOUAGAIN am i right in sayings it's the law and RM can be done if it's broken.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Its the old worktime directive law postman, and yes it should be stuck to by all parties, trouble is in the past r/m have turned a blind eye and the WHEN IT SUITS phrase comes to mind, also it was tricky for us as it stopped our members earning money and pissed alot of people off. Also we are allowed to work a max 70 hour week as well so 30 hours a week docket,if you go over you reduce the following week.It was all part of the European working directive from a few years back, some one on here will know a lot more,a rep perhaps.

It isnt the law, but a European Working Time Directive.

You will notice that when it suits RM ie Christmas, this rule will go out of the window!

Under the European Working Time Directive we are not supposed more than a 40 hr week, but as Royal Mail is a service u can opt out of that and work 70 hrs a week, at xmas this can be increased to approx 80 hrs per week, it is all designed to protect the service and ensure the mail arrives on time ( hahahaha ).

Yes it supposed to increase to 12 hours don’t know the date, also you are supposed to take 1 day per week or 2 days a fortnight off, this is another rule that has gone out the door in Mail Centres when it is advantages to management.
