Bloody snowballs

Post by dave7634 »

I hate this time of the year. In the past I've been emptying a postbox and seen a group of what can only be described as late teens moulding a glass looking object in their hands. By the time these caught the side of my scone however it felt like a ruddy house brick. I had the box stopped for a while and even after that I then had a copper meet me at the box and wait while I emptied it which was rather embarrassing.

Emptying one (stick box) tonight and saw a group of the large youths busily lobbing them at one another. A little voice in my head said, "don't go Dave. Leave the thing but, duty prevailed and out I got of my armoured shell. I could hear the sniggers erupting as I walked toward the box. Inserting the key I heard the first snowball whistle past my earole followed by more of the aforementioned missiles only these were much better aimed. One caught me at the back of my head and upon turning around to see who was responsible saw 5-6 late teens stood there with that, "and what are you going to do about it?" look about them. Mad doesn't cover how I felt as I hastily made my way back to the van.

I got back to the depot and discussed what had happened with other collection staff only to find that a lot of them agreed with me in that, if they could have got hold of them they'd have liked to have killed them a little but alas we, as millions of teachers up and down the country know only too well (and so do the little gits too) you can't lay a damned finger on them :evil/mad

I agree with you completely. It's one thing for little kids throwing a handful of soft snow.
But these are moronic teenagers throwing hard missiles, which hurt if they hit you in the head.
And they only do it when they are in a large group (cowards). I experienced it when I went to
sign on at my local DO on Monday. There were about 12 of them. There was not much I could
do as things would probably have turned violent if I had confronted them, and the Police have
more serious things to deal with.
I am probably older than their grandparents. How would they like it if that happened to their
grandfather? But I suppose at the end of the day it's the fault of their parents who have not
brought them up to have a common respect and regard for other people.
I think they will be going nowhere in their lives.

I totally agree as teenagers are as big as adults nowadays and will throw a ball of compacted snow /ice with some force. Trouble is i wear glasses a while back i got hit clean in the face with a snowball whilst mucking around off duty. The glasses went flying losing a lens and screw but not before cutting my nose  . If this happened on duty how would i be able to drive the van. Its not funny when you read about people getting kicked to death in the streets for looking at a group of lads "the wrong way"
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

There was one on the news the other day where someone had thrown a snowball at the gritting lorry. Not too bad apart from it had a bit of a brick inside and it smashed the windscreen.

So yes, little kids having genuine fun throwing little snowballs, fine, all well and good.

However, people who are old enough to know better i.e. that it will hurt if packed up, thrown hard and aimed at someone's head, need sorting out. Even kids of the age of 6 would know that if something hard is thrown at them, it will hurt so what outcome are they expecting if they throw them at someone else?!

If you'd been knocked out and given a serious head injury as a result of being hit on the head by a snowball, how would they feel then? :mad
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

We've had a driver this week who went to empty a box (again a stick box) and, when she pulled up the small of around 5-6 group consisted of mummy and daddy and a small consignment of snowballs in a container. When she said to the woman, "don't you think you're a bit too old to be throwing snowballs at me?" the reply she got from the mother was, "yeah, now get out!"
Needless to say she drove away under a barrage of snowballs.
