Re: do you feel appreciated
yes its wrong that
i mean over xmas
i did like 10 -11 hours a day 6 days
who said thanks ?
no one
just big cash at the end of the week.
it does hurt when you come to think of what you do to help out with no thanks

I just come in and work the hours paid now, I don't want any dealings with managers and TBH the quicker they are out of my sight the better.

Hav,nt times changed eh?
its only the last 2 years or so ive really detested working in the business, and ive been there over 20 years.
Its sad, very sad, that now, i hardly recognise who works in my office, and they all scrap for an hours o/t, every day, gaffers say, right do this, you do that, gettin the piss taken from them, but still they come in every day, destined never to get full time.
Still, its over 20 years as i say, and i can honestly say, theyve never had me work a 40 hour week yet,
Every day i finish early , i think, thank you, thats anothe hour or so ive got off you.
Its the only real pleasure i get from the job these days, and its slowly coming to an end

Re: do you feel appreciated
Trouble is ive worked in the business for so long i really dont expect the managers to give a hoot. They say "be carefull", "dont overload your bags" and "take your time" then clear the bank of mailsort which of course means heavy bags in weather which most of the time your having trouble standing up.
Talk is cheap, yesterday a postie in my area got a call from the hospital saying his son had fallen over and been rushed to hospital (thankfully he was ok). He uses his car so we took all his mail and put it in my van and off he went. I phoned the office and told a manager who said he would ring me back to sort out the delivery of his mail. No one rang and three hours later when i returned back to the office i was told the managers had left two hours ago to go home.
I did have a manager about 6 years ago who did stay behind till the last man/women had returned and i did make me feel more appreciated. If the managers cant be bothered with the job it makes you feel the same way.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I always make a point of saying thank you etc to people who help me out. As they say, manners cost nothing.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Re: do you feel appreciated
Do you feel appreciated? Made me larf did that.
I will try to put things into perspective here from my point of view.
Managers in our office are a cancer of this company. I have witnessed (and experienced) bulliying, harrassment and discrimination on a regular basis in our office. What winds me up is a minority of posties dont make a stand against managers when they should, through (in my view) fear of losing jobs or not being asked to do o/t (discrimination).
Managers get all shitty when you cut off (probably cause they might have to do del some mail) but yet, dont get shitty when you book excess, It's a posties right to work to his contracted hours and not want to do excess on a heavy day, thus cutting off.
I honestly thought that managers in this day and age shouldnt/dont exsist, but we have them in abendance in our office, and is very much 'us' and 'them'.
I cant wait for the fun and games once the geo route in introduced.

Re: do you feel appreciated
I used to feel appreciated by my DOM and I always helped out when I could. Then one day i stopped using my car, coming in early and took my full meal break. You can guess what comes next........... Its a shame for our lino's (sometimes! as ours are quite good) as they take the crap for what the DOM puts on us.
