People Who Dont Salt There Paths
Are giving me the right hump
along with the local council not gritting the pavements quick enough. The High St is ok but the side roads are a nightmare. If everyone done there own path and the pavement outside it would be much better for all of us,I hope they fall over and bruise there Bums.Rant over.

Well said! It doesn't take much if you have one of "those" paths that is slippery and buggery anyway. I don't know how people can let their paths get that bad, and not just with ice.

In some parts of Europe its the law that you have to sweep the boundary of your property but I believe here if you do sweep outside and someone slips over they could be sued. But I agree these paths should be kept clear, I slipped over on Monday nothing hurt apart from pride.

I know they do it in Germany and America (which I do realise isn't in Europe...)simonwien wrote:In some parts of Europe its the law that you have to sweep the boundary of your property but I believe here if you do sweep outside and someone slips over they could be sued. And isn't it awful when people see you when you've slipped or tripped... so embarrassing! I once did the full comedy fall, landed on my arse with legs up in the air and thought "thank christ no one saw that!". Then a little voice went "are you OK love?"... my thought:bugger.

I agree with this rant but what flips me more is the ones who clear there drives and stack up the snow /ice on the pavement either side which leaves two great mounds you have to walk through.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

My driveway is about 50 metres long and by the time I get home from work, I'm too tired to clear it, plus, because the roads in my estate haven't been adopted by the DOE they haven't gritted/cleared the existing snow.

There was a postie in a nearby office who slipped onthe steps of a nursery and broke his ankle and apparently the staff, despite seeing him fall, just turned away and the poor guy had to hobble back to the office on his own! If that was a child then they would probably be getting sued to high heaven!
Why should the fact that its a postie make any difference he should try and sue anyway, dont the CWU have a dept for this ?

Re: People Who Dont Salt There Paths
no sense of community anymore. when i was a kid the whole street would be out clearing the (unadopted) road never mind just the pavement.
Nowadays if people bother they tend just to there property only.
Some people are quite happy to watch the oap at the end of the street struggle to clear there path.
Bring back the community spirit..

Re: People Who Dont Salt There Paths
I would thought there will be kids offering to clear the path for them for five quids or whatever and boost their pocket money.
