Geo Route

Post by Lenny honeyball »

Is expected to be introduced in our office come end of Febuary.

Any else has this in their office as yet?

We have had WTL explaining that Geo Route will be introduced throughout the office, Bits are to be taken off our round and miore put on, Apparently we need to be more "efficent"

Apparently RM are consulting a supe duper computer that caculates all the inf about your round (angle of hills etc) :Very Happy and then churns out how much should be put on your round, Thus far they have tried and tested it on 2 rounds, and as a result, were 1 and a half hours over the duty time, and in true RM fashion, they tried and tested the rounds in question again, and of course, They were still an hour and a half over.

Maybe if they test them again, the 1 and a half hour over suty time would be reduced by 5 minutes, who knows.

My attitude is its a load of bollox and I and others will just be working threir contracted hours and cutting off if necc.

plenty threads on here about it, but you all have to stand together, be strong and tell the boss, nothing is happening until there is a national agreement on walk speed, prep rate, call rate etc.

Part timers will be given the earache by devious managers, promising full time.
Voluntary retirement will be mentioned to some also, (in my office, the daft dom tried to go from part timers being offered first, saving tens of thousands of pounds).

divided, weak offices are what royal mail love, a strong united take no s**t office, with a rep who has balls, is what they dont like.

My office is about to vote out our rep and bring in one with testiclus giganticus(so his wife says)

good luck, and spread the word.

look here also.

My apologies, I didnt realise this subject had been covered elsewhere.

I agree with sticking together etc, Problem we have is people who usually take there cars wont take cars for a while, but ALWAYS go back to using car at a later date, we also have a minority of idiots who come in early (1 hour in some cases).

As I said, Im just going to work to my contracted hours, I never come in early, or use my car :no no

I dont think the problem is people using cars..hear me out......it's people taking 6/7 bags in their cars.

i was under the impression taking your first bag in car to first delivery point was ok....?

My problem being that i would somehow have to get 2 mile back to office (as DIM says its not his resposibility to pick me up) to pick my car up and end of shift or, get bus from walk and leave car at office.

by taking my car it gives me 15 mins to go to shop for any provisions and still plenty of time to get to delivery for scheduled first letter then at the end of the shift i'm home well within my 15mins conveyence....

Floyd, In my opinion, taking your car is a no no. I undertsand people have other jobs/ child care issues etc, but its a big no from me.

Funny thing was last year when we had to absorb other jobs into our own job and as a result peeps were not taking their cars, Our "friends" the managers threathened to take peeps down the conduct/disiplinirary route for suddenly deciding 'not' to take there cars. :mad

I see your point BUT i only ever take my first bag (exactly the same as if i used a bike)

I am just out of the distance where they would need to give me conveyance to my duty(by about 100 yards)

I will NEVER work over my time again

I will NEVER work under my time unless it's very very quiet

I weigh all my bags correctly

I leave mail for the DIM to sort out nearly every day and I never have time to lapse, I am the only person in my office working full hours paid for(cutting my cloth for the future)

taking the car gets me home for 2ish instead of 2-30/2-45 this is one of their rules that actually suits me, I just dont let them take advantage of me!

Yes the CWU have an idea its called a national policy. This policy was fed to the Divsional reps from Branchs and was endorsed by the Postal Executive.
In additon a LTB has been sent out informing all Branchs of this policy. Notwithstanding the above all Branch`s were advised at the National Briefing.

The policy is clear there should be no more agreements on any savings/ revisons and definately no more geo route/peagsus or agreements on longer spans until the following has been achieved.

1. We get a national agreement off Royal Mail on the future delivery strategy which dratically changes their 5 phase delivery plan which is a part time delivery charter based on the Dutch Delivery model. For infomation purposes for every one full timer their are 10 part timers in Holland. Unsurprisingly TNT the favoured joint venture partner is in control on the Dutch Post Office.

2. We force Royal Mail s to reviel their future mail centre and RDC plans including their clousre plans.

3. We achieve a national agreement on issues like the shorter working week , pay , improved mtsf terms and a mechanism to trap our share of the savings on going from any future modensation plans.

The only way the CWU are going to be able to deliver on this is if everyone holds the line which the Postal Execuitve have agreed. I know it sounds easy but the IR framework allows for local parties to disagree at local level over the plans including the fact there is no national agreement on peagasus. Each local rep should be supported by their branch and each Branch by their Divisonal Reps and above this the Postal Executive should support and assist the policy

What worrys me is all these offices that are geo routeing :no no I was in one today,a Mail Centre/Delivery office talking to posties about it and it was pointed out to me that they are having another geo route revision done very soon  It seems that only London is sticking to our unions National policy and may end up on the cobbles as Royal Mail try to force it in by E/A as we will be the only division left not to have georoute.I just hope its not to late and a national agreement is reached A.S.A.P.

In my area where a pegasus revision has been agreeed by the membership it stills goes in but if its not reached the ballot of members stage then we pull out. If the policy had come through 6 months earlier then my office might not have had a pegasus revision implemented.

Although Royal Mail don't ask you to use your car in their official documents it asks that you at least give them a few days 'notice' of your intention to withdraw your vehicle. I cannot find where I read this on their intranet but if I do I'll post the exact wording.

If you suddenly lose the use of your car (an accident or major breakdown) would you still be punished?

Floyd this could happen to you

I used to use my car a few years back to spread the load and try to get home that bit early. One day took it out on the round and went off to do my first bag i came back to find the alarm going off and it broken into. The dim Witt's had tried to break the tailgate lock and failed so went in through the passenger door glass, smashed the parcel shelf in two and forced the rear seats forward bending and busting them. Also they pulled the bags out with such force they broke the passenger seat as well. Result £800 spent to fix it and that was a while ago using mainly secondhand parts.

Oh and the icing on the cake was having to attend a discipline interview where i was made to feel it was my fault. Never again :cry :d'oh!
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
