The'how was your bad weather day/posties on ice' thread

Post by POSTMAN »

Ironic,as i'm writing this there is that very popular TV show on now, where perhaps in the next few days Royal Mail postal workers could give them a run for their money.

The met office issued a severe weather warning this week forecasting heavy snow affecting all of the UK especially the east.

Described as the worst winter for 10 years, where usually Planes Trains and Automobiles are stopped in their tracks,Britains army of posties will,as always do their best to make sure the mail gets through.

Our work in these conditions seems to be lost on a lot of people during these times, especially with the effects of global warming which are making our winters worse.

Snow is likely in most places for the next few days, and by the end of the week it will be more particular over higher ground where further significant accumulations are possible.

Experts believe that this month could end up as one of the coldest February's in Britain in the past 10 years. The freezing night-time conditions look set to stay around -8C until at least the middle of the week.

So are you a Todd Carty or a Ray Quinn?,or a Coleen Nolan or a Jessica Taylor?

How was your day,pics welcome.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It looks like we're going to miss the snow (except for Glengormley and the Glenshane Pass, if it snows anywhere in NI it's there).

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.

Adverse weather and dangerous driving conditions

Post by Lounge Lizard »

All London buses have been withdrawn from service due to "adverse weather and dangerous driving conditions".
Can we expect Royal Mail to make a similar move or are our vans better able to cope with the snowfall ?

:nana Ha, Ha. our vans can hardly steer straight in good conditions, never mind the snow. up here in Scotland, it has
come in with a vengence, (Thanfully, my day off)--but their vehicles are no good.

Most of London Underground, and the overground trains are shut down too.
London is never prepared for this type of weather.
Looks like I may not be able to get to my MC, and may have to report to my
local DO. Wonder whether they will expect me to go out on a delivery?
Never done one before and don't seem to be the best conditions to start.

My rest day thank god :Very Happy I am In the SE and here and we have had about 10" of snow and its still bucketing down. I phoned the office to see situ and 25 out of 40 posties have turned in but no managers. They are sitting around awaiting for the word to see if deliveries will go out, but looking outside now i doubt it. :Applause

I doubt that there will be many cars getting into Central London either.
