Royal Mail are now recruiting Postmen/Postwomen to sort and deliver the mail. If you are able to work to tight deadlines while maintaining a professional and positive image, you are the type of person we’re looking for.

Location of vacancy: You will be based at Winkleigh Delivery Office, Fore Street, Winkleigh EX19 8HQ


Hours of work: 10:30 hours per week. This is a job share role with each candidate working 10:30 hours a week. One to cover 9:30am to 1pm Monday to Wednesday and one to cover 9:30am to 1pm Thursday to Saturday. They will then rotate on a weekly basis.



You will start by sorting the mail in a loud, busy environment, arranging the mail so you can accurately later on. You will work in all weathers delivering mail on foot or by bike. You will travel 6 to 8 miles each day deliver it carrying around 8 heavy mailbags a day (weighing up to 16kg).



As part of your duty you may be expected to ride a bicycle confidently in all weathers and in heavy traffic.



WHAT'S THIS!! YOU GO IN AT 9.30 ,,,,, SORT THEN PREP THEN TAKE OUT 8 BAGS
ALL IN 3 1/2 HRS !!!

If you work Thu,Fri,Sat...and then your off Mon,Tue,Wed,how can you possibly rotate so next week your working

It's a very simple thing, bring people in for 10.5 hours, 3 day week then have them working 8 hours per day, 6 days a week.

Have them begging for the OT and you'll never have to employ them properly just run an office on the never never.

I cant help but think this is employment of the future in all industries!! And with the Torries taking power next we will all be fighting for the scraps!! I really do fear for the future of my children who are both in later education.. And sod all to do with their worthless manufactured A levels.ordered by the government!!

Never had to wear ear defenders in the office doing IPS like I had to do in my previous jobs working on big machinary..'

Think it's cause a lot of people may think that you're on your own on delivery a lot may not know that you can spend a few hours sorting the mail first and I suppose you always get shouters and singers in all offices, might scare some folk !!!
Also the person writing the ads prob sits in an office where they aren't allowed to talk to each other etc so if they visited a DO they would prob think it was a chaotic and very loud place in comparison to thier silent sterile office
