It's time the bonus system for managers and the colleagueshare for staff was ditched - managers are payed for saving money, NOT for improving service, and we should be paid for the work we do, NOT for the sacrifices we make.

If managers were payed for the time and effort they put in, rather than what they can take off their staff, they would have to do a days work instead of sitting on their arses scheming about cutting already depleted budgets and getting rid of people who actually work for a living. Items we ask for to do the job might actually appear instead of constantly being "on order".

Walks now fail and due mail is regularly deferred because managers refuse to pay overtime to staff who are willing to do the deliveries despite them being oversized and planned by a flying horse. I like many others would rather be paid for making an effort than see the business I work for become so frustratingly petty about the cost of doing the job, with the result that the job may be done badly or not at all.

Royal Mail's (and many other business') philosophy at the moment that "you are lucky to have a job and should be willing to make sacrifices" should be shoved up their backsides with a rolled up colleagueshare certificate. We are all making sacrifices in our daily lives simply to make ends meet and pay the bills - we don't need that sort of advice from a business that will take our sacrifice and then pay it back to a manager or senior executive that like our corrupt and failing financial institutions simply moves figures around all day and says "look - it works on paper so it will work in the real world - and it will only destroy 40,000 lives - PAY ME A BONUS"
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

well said rhino , it's only over an year back when our office was short staffed, our manager would offer some of the postmen overtime for taking a bit of another round out, now they do it themselves, greedy f----rs, :cfo :mfo :cfo :mfo :lfo :lfo [
