Re: is this wilful delay?...
No I can't see how it is his fault but Managers make up the rules as they see fit, when they see fit and they can change them at a glance without informing anyone of course.
They can lie, deny or whatever they please - if it suits them.
The only way to cover yourself is only taking out the mail you know you can complete and leave the rest there and then. I would not take out the full round and bring back the rest if I thought for a moment I would be unable to complete. (By asking the DOM he must have thought he could not finish - If you get my point).
I know its not always easy to work these things out but from what you have said your friend did all he could. But whats right and what the DOM decides to do are two very different things.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Playing devils advocate I would expect these questions at any subsequent meeting.
There was a combination lock on the door did he know the numbers ?
Was there a phone nearby and did he have a contact number for any managers ?
If the answers to both are NO then he has as far as I can see a rock solid case.
Ps - white trainers - they send you home for them to change at my DO,

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nothing to do with the law. One of the reasons why this site is as successful as it is, is because of the anonymity we try to provide hence one of the rules is:Ogpat wrote:if that's true how do all these crime style police get aired when all the are saying that camera out my etc. Not saying this (particular) manager is a ;)Postman wrote:You can't post the video if his manager is on it,you can let us know when you've got it and others can pm you for it.

Putting a video on here with anyone visible on it who has not given their permission would drive a coach and horses through the rule. It would of course also ruin our unwritten promise of anonymity for everyone.Except for nationally known personalities please do not name any individuals on here, rather use their 'work title' or 'my/a colleague' instead.

I believe all those TV shows require anyone appearing to sign a permission contract otherwise they end up with blurry faces.opgpat wrote:if that's true how do all these ukstreet crime style police docus get aired when all the crims are saying 'get that camera out my face' etc. Not saying this (particular) manager is a crim btw ;)POSTMAN wrote:
