bullying / harassment
It is bullying / harassment that causes stress to us, this manifests itself into sick leave, rather than address the causes,ie poor managers/poor systems in place, the bully boy managers continue to destroy people in the workplace, and justify there actions as efficiency/budgetary requirements.do they risk assess, do they listen, do they care. They use attendance /conduct agreements as a means to punish not correct, adding to the individuals stress levels, use best practise as a means to drive up savings, with no safeguards built in for age, ability, etc, when finally you have had enough, and take sick leave, they bombard you with letters, phonecalls, atos, it simply fails to register with the managers today, that you are sick, depressed, stressed, because of them. Incompetence and arrogance are all that you require to be a bully , thug, manager.if your doctor signs you off work, then you are unfit for work, bullying the sick is the lowest form of intimidation /harassment. royal mail managers are an example and typical of all that is wrong in the uk today.profit before people was thatchers mantra, blair and brown, would put her to shame, :mfo

Re: bullying / harassment
Is this an extract from a RM management manual? It is a very accurate description of a day in the life of a Postman / woman.

Well said sounds like our office goodwill and actually working with managers to get the job done has gone out the window it is them and us now all they are interested in is their bonuses, it is sad but true

Ask for a referral to ATOS and let them tell your DIM what you can or can't do.chip wrote:this is the same ruling in my office but as of last thur i have been signed off driving and cycling by my doctor then my line mananger shouts in my face that i am useless and shouldnt bother comin in i am sorry but i can easily hobble round i even had a crack at fixin some bikes i do deads and throw in some late turn rounds and anyway at least i aint s useless as him lolheston wrote:It is bullying / harassment that causes stress to us, this manifests itself into sick leave, rather than address the causes,ie poor managers/poor systems in place, the bully boy managers continue to destroy people in the workplace, and justify there actions as efficiency/budgetary requirements.do they risk assess, do they listen, do they care. Well said. It is incredible the people royal mail promote to management, and equally astounding their attitude towards these matters. The only thing scarier than an idiot is an idiot who thinks they are intelligent. It really could be a good, rewrarding job appreciated by the community. Such a shame. But it is the same in so many companies. I previously worked for a top supermarket, and that was an eye opener too. If they sack just about all the current managers and top level, and get a unit that can work with the government realising that this is a public service, that COULD pay for it self if the market hadn't been opened up and really afected RM profits. Every one knows communications have changed, but there is a massive business market there. Just ask DHL, UKpost and all the other downstream vultures. THEN we could maybe have it good..........................
Then again, nah, just keeping playing the lottery and give it plennty

worst of posties who have gone on to become managers and worse still, come back to work in your office?
Even worse are the 'radical' ones, who hate all things 'management' are rabid pro unionists.-then go over to the dark side.
Then again, nah, just keeping playing the lottery and give it plenntybecause this is a sinking ship folks, and there aint much better out there.

Re: bullying / harassment
absolutely right about the staunch unionists.. In my experience and reading any daily paper, those that seek office or look to perform a duty to either the public or for a set of employees, in many cases, do not do so out of a selfless act of unity and ensuring a fair and equal society, or in our case work place, but to so to further their own agenda. be it financial or otherwise.stokes11eg wrote:hillwalker wrote:taxi4leighton wrote:YOU NEED A GOOD DOCTOR WHO HAS AN UNDERSTANDING OF REAL LIFE.THE NUMBER OF MANAGERS WHO THINK THAT THEY KNOW BETTER THAN DOCTORS ABOUT MEDICAL MATTERS IS FRIGHTENING.PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO QUALIFICATIONS FEEL THAT THEY KNOW BETTER THAN DOCTORS WHO HAVE STUDIED MEDICINE FOR 6 YEARS AND HAVE 20 YEARS OR MORE EXPERIENCE.

And sometimes even with the best of intentions, i guess the dark side could be appealing. If you were an efficent union rep they would probably offer you management just to get you off their back. At which point you would the offer of hard cash would be the acid test. Because when you make management, you leave your ideals and morals at the door, or obviously you will be out a job. And then you truly become the worst of the worst.
HAPPY DAYS! from
