Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Noticed the other day the the two yellow stripes on the RM vans is not there on the newer vehicles, can't say from what point they stopped putting them on but is this a decision made by management to refresh the brand? lol.

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
I have heard that they had been touted as "go faster stripes", they didn't work and so they have been discontinued.fmrPOSTIE wrote:Noticed the other day the the two yellow stripes on the RM vans is not there on the newer vehicles, can't say from what point they stopped putting them on but is this a decision made by management to refresh the brand? lol.

They stopped putting the cruciform on new vans two years ago in our area.

There only seems to be yellow stripes on the lorry and all these photos are from 2006
Can someone also let me know why there is a motorbike (can't get 100kg of post and packets on a bike)?

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Saw a RM van with a green slanted rectangular block where the yellow stripes used to be.
Is that to indicate that it's green/eco friendly?

If I remember correctly it was Leighton's idea, a cost cutting exercise, can't remember the figures being quoted.

You're not going to believe this but those yellow lines have been the main topic of conversation at my depot
- more to the point when did they start putting them on?

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Its when vans start turning up orange and white with black writing saying Royal mail in partnership with TNT. or the other way round... Is when we need to worry!!

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Keen eye for detail me...! The yellow stripes have been around for donkeys years. At least since the late 80s, it seems as though from around 2006 onwards they've dissapeared? If you look at some royal mail depot signs they have a yellow band on the left hand side, newer signs are split just White and Red.
Have no idea why they've gone but personally just red looks OK. And no van should be without the Royal cipher.p

I wonder if we will lose that when we are 'part privatised' and will we keep the word 'Royal' in our namefmrPOSTIE wrote: And no van should be without the Royal cipher.p

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Plenty of companies keep Royal in their name, even after privatization. But it ain't gunna happen with Royal Mail 'cos they're not getting to that stage :). It will still be RM. The cipher is more of a heritage thing than anything else. But gunna try and find out why the stripes have dissapeared though!k66yla wrote:I wonder if we will lose that when we are 'part privatised' and will we keep the word 'Royal' in our namefmrPOSTIE wrote: And no van should be without the Royal cipher.p

Re: Wheres the yellow stripes gone?
Perhaps they will just use the letters RM as our logo, as in R(upert) M(urdock)

Scottish Royal Mail vans carry the Scottish Crown (without 'E II R').fmrPOSTIE wrote:Noticed the other day the the two yellow stripes on the RM vans is not there on the newer vehicles, can't say from what point they stopped putting them on but is this a decision made by management to refresh the brand? lol.
