Post Offices
Is there a certain time before scan times that post offices should have everything ready in advance? Sick of going in and having to wait 10 minutes to things are sorted when I should be able to lift, scan and go

Re: Post Offices
There should be a poster up advising the public of the last acceptance time for their mail and this should be 10 minutes ( I think ) before you're due to give the Post Office time to tie everything up etc .for your arrival .If they're not ready threaten to leave and I'm sure they'll get the message .

Re: Post Offices
Just say if you're not ready by X time you'll be leaving without their items as you only have a certain time to complete your collection run before the truck leaves the DO/MC.

Re: Post Offices
It's 15 minutes for POs (10 for firms).
It's really annoying (especially on Saturdays), you're there exactly the same time every single day, just tell them to set an alarm on their phones and you won't be waiting anymore, the second you can scan you can go.
You don't mind waiting every now and then, but when it's every day they're just taking the piss. On the barcode you scan, it'll even state the final collection time for that day, if it's 1700 last collection, it'll be 1645 for that day, anything else is supposed to go the next day (I don't give a toss about that as long as they're ready).

Re: Post Offices
I should add, it's worth going in and scanning straight away (as long as it's not early), then scanning again when they're 'finished' if they're taking ages, both the scans will show up to your manager how long they're taking.
When collection routes are made, post offices are only allotted 6 minutes.

Re: Post Offices
These must be historic figures based on a Crown PO with good direct access. One of our busy SPOs, based in a tiny shop lined with cases of beer which make it awkward to get in and out, can take eight or nine trips to the van to clear it. I am often there 15 minutes or more. Even the quieter POs take longer than six minutes. Used to enjoy collections but they are a PITA on account of most POs not having suitable premises. In an ideal world you would be leaving them a York (or Yorks) to fill up, you come in, wheel the york out, handball into the van, simple. But they don’t have the space.

Re: Post Offices
Probably is. Some take 2 minutes, some take ages. Took me 1hr 40 minutes to do 6 post offices Monday morning, it'll be an hour today.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑Today, 07:44These must be historic figures based on a Crown PO with good direct access. When they make a collection route, that's the allotted time (I agree 6 minutes is pretty poor in some cases). Most of ours (Oldham/Ashton) get 3 collections a day though, so time spent there is spread out.
