Feet

Post by Selhurst »

Probably a stupid question.
Is there any allowance paid by Royal Mail for seeing a podiatrist? Chiropodist visit today, and told me to enquire. Royal Mail shoes have shredded my feet. Have now had to buy a pair of sketchers air, as shoes supplied by Royal Mail not fit for purpose

Sorry but I can’t answer your question but I have a question for you regarding your feet and the damage done to them by Royal Mail footwear as I’m in a similar position.

Do you suffer from hard skin? Toenail fungus? Are your little toes getting squashed by the RM footwear?

Ask for a referral to health partners for your feet.

Not for seeing a podiatrist but if you get a doctors note saying you can't wear rm footwear you can claim £34.

Royal Mail wont pay for podiatry. NHS won't treat you . ( only hope is a possibly long waiting list ) . You have to go private and it can be very expensive. Once your feet are in a bad way changing shoes won't help as the underlying damage is done. They might ease pressure for a while but basically the job is crippling you. It's not a stupid question at all. Healthy feet are overlooked but without them the job is impossible.

Thanks for the info. Is the £34 available one a year, or as and when your shoes need to be renewed? I need new shoes about every 6/8 months

What!? Albania's finest exports not good enough for you?

After the DMs were discontinued in 2018 and then the Magnums shortly thereafter, the crap they supplied left me struggling to walk for three years until I decided to shell out a fiver for new old stock RM Magnums on a well-known online auction place. Yeah, I know, I'm the chump. But within weeks I could actually walk properly again. A small price to pay, although apparently far too much for RM to foot the bill.
The machine stops.

This is very painful. Oddly enough happens mostly after a holiday . Thankfully it is treatable with ice packs and stretch exercises. Resting on its own wont cure it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

As and when your shoes need to be renewed, twice a year for me. Also the doctor's surgery will charge for the note but that is refundable too.

Finally, getting the £34 refunded takes ages due to head office delays but it does eventually get paid 3/4 months after the claim was presented.

When I was working I found these to be the best for comfort and wear.
They are probably dearer than most of the Skechers range, but they have non slip soles and composite toes.
I also kept checking Amazon and other sites to find them in the sales.

On a side note wearing these "fixed" the Plantar Fasciitis I was suffering with.
