Lost Special

Post by TooManyLoops »

I had a special delivery letter for an address today, I distinctly remember putting it in the box with that street's bundles of mail (it was the only mail I was taking out)

When I arrived at that street, I couldn't find it.

I emptied the van on the road, removing 30 collection packets, all 20kg, about 50 Tracked packets, and all my bags and boxes, tipping all the boxes out. The back of the van was totally empty, and it's nowhere to be seen

How screwed am I? :cry

Depends on the vagaries of your manager. Have you notified anyone yet? Delaying things might make things worse. It might just turn up in totally unexpectedly somewhere where you've looked but have overlooked it (that's happened to me with box keys before!) or you might have posted it accidentally especially if it was one of those stupid franked letters with no silver sticker on it.

I informed my manager once I put the van back together. They didn't seem interested, just said wait until the complaint comes in

It was for an house about 20 into the bundle, I never put SDs inside the bundle and had it loose at the front (well, I thought I did)

It was a small plastic bag SD

You’ll find it when you’re not looking.

I have had Specials that I can’t find and then when I do find them, they don’t look the same as I remembered them.

I wonder if some posties put too much emphasis on specials?

You have 8-900 odd letters if not more & 150 odd packets & you lose the most important item of the day?

My old partner used to deliver all the specials before he even started his walk, I believe he still does :arrrghhh

Safest way to not do what the OP has done.

When I started they were treated as special and should never leave your sight; nowadays I see them left all over the office with no regard whatsoever.

In what way is that relevant?

The CWU let's it's members do whatever they want despite knowing full well what that means when things go wrong. So yeah, the CWU is to blame.

You sage advice will help the OP no end!

Seeing as we’re nitpicking, allow me to correct your punctuation for you:
