Are all offices strict on the 11 hour working rule ???

Are all offices strict on the 11 hour working rule ???

You can only work 11 hours a day.

Say for example you start at

5am = you have be back at the office by 4pm.
5:30am = You have be back at the office by 4:30pm
6am = You have be back at the office by 5pm

And so on

Do all offices follow this rule ????

Must just be a delivery thing as in MCs a few shifts are 12hr long

The 11 hour thing is break between shifts. If you finish at 8pm can't start next day before 7. We enforce it but not sure how company wide it is enforced

For 600 vehicles and above. And remember RM have a get out clause for the Xmas pressure. Remember them days, when you could make a few pounds and the boss of one of my DOs had a drink ( beer) with all of us before we went out on Xmas eve morning. We were all getting 4 hours rocket every day for nothing. All agreed, signed for weeks before, extra vans hired in. AND IT WORKED. BRILLIANTLY.

The limit on the working day is not 11 hours. The rest period between shifts is a minimum of 11 hours but this can be varied.

It only matters if you have to drive for more than 4 hours. You still need an 11 hour break between shifts.

I used to do Mon-Fri 13 hours and 4 on a Saturday when it was Christmas. We got pulled because we were driving more than 4 hours (I think 8/9 hours was on collection driving), but because it was Christmas they let it go.

I imagine some offices care, some don't. But all offices share one thing, can break the rules 'when it suits'.

You can actually do a 14 hour shift if you correctly work your rest either side

My guess is that managers are so poorly trained and the business is so amateurish that most of them are blissfully unaware of the Working Time Directive and anything contained within it.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No-one (staff or management) GAF, and never have done.
Christmas arrangements for the last 25 year or so prove that.
Used to sign a piece of paper "waiving" the rule, but don't seem to even bother with that anymore.

The 11 hour rest rule and 7 day working rule is suspended for the postal service for the duration of xmas pressure.

But applies all the rest of the working year.
It is strictly enforced at our MC and a any wilful breeching will see you in the office and slapped with a 7 day OT ban

A directive under whose authority has said it has been suspended? Last sentence from this para from the Christmas Arrangements LTB:
3.13 Rest days will apply in line with normal year-round arrangements. Attendances may
be varied by local agreement to take account of workload forecasts and service
requirements. Where workload requires, (and subject to currently agreed working
time limits) people can volunteer in advance to work their normal rest day in return
for a day in lieu or the resourcing/remuneration options contained in Section 1. Where
a rest day falls on a Bank Holiday (i.e. on 25th, 26th December, 1st January (& 2nd
January in Scotland) and it is not operationally sensible to transfer the rest day to
another day in the same week, people will receive an additional day holiday (including
those working ‘a week off in six’ or other variations on this theme) in the form of a day
in lieu or alternatively the excess hours can be taken as normal overtime. Normal
adherence to the Working Time Directive still applies.
