Keys attach to one end. Other end to belt. Pull out to use. Simples.

Yes, so you can't accidentally leave the key in the ignition when you get outscoobydo79 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 15:14Are you saying the while the van key is in the ignition while driving the other end should be attached to your belt ?

Especially when you've got a keyless van and it locks with your key in.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 15:49

Does it help keep your trews above arse crack level as the new red stretchy belts are useless!ted_e_bear wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 15:49Yes, so you can't accidentally leave the key in the ignition when you get outscoobydo79 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 15:14Are you saying the while the van key is in the ignition while driving the other end should be attached to your belt ?

There are just another excuse to Conduct you if you lock your keys in the van or something worse, as hardly anybody, if anybody, regularly uses them at my DO.

Interesting. A quick search tells Me it is unsafe to do this also is damaging to the ignition . Where’s the union input?

Re: Retractable van key lanyards
I heard they spent something like £200,000 - £300,000 on those lanyards....
and they are dangerous to use, wire gets in the way of the steering wheel for some drivers - therefore gets in the way of your hands.
Why couldn't they have simply dealt with the few people that idle with conduct or at least put repeated offenders on a trolley job....
Why waste £200,000+ on something that's useless and dangerous.

They’re far from useless. They save me time every day. And the lanyard cord doesn’t go anywhere near the steering wheel in any of the OMVs I’ve driven.

I’m very tall . It hardly stretches from Me to the ignition switch . I have to move the seat further forward than I would normally have it just to reachRve83ndxd wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 17:52Only if you are incompetent.
