TRIAL OFFICES

Post by SkiSunday »

The so called "trials" are obviously well underway now, it would be nice to hear some updates on the changes and progress in some of these DOs from colleagues, reps and even managers.

We are a trial office. At first rurals were left alone, apart from their routes being changed up a bit. Saturday they wud do parcels and 1st class along with a bit of a lapsed duty.

Town staff are getting slaughtered daily. Two duties of parcels along with 1st class then next all mail and parcels on ur own duty. On Saturday its always parcels and 1st class so ur always having double if not triple mail every other day.

Now though rurals are being told to do half of their duty in its entirety along with parcels and 1st class for the other half. The following day do the same but swap it around.

Overtime is through the roof , if u want it. There asking people to work days off and even holidays. How its saving money is anyones guess but if u like the OT its happy days at the moment.

How are you keeping the 1st class seperate from the 2nd class?
Are you using different frames for each?
At the MC we are seperating and despatching 1st & 2nd class seperatley.

Exactly…….simple job complicated by half witted morons. There’s nothing more simple than putting a bit of paper through a hole in a door or handing a cardboard box over to a householder, but no let’s make it so complicated that we’ve now tied everyone up in knots and can’t find a way out so just keep digging ourselves into a deeper hole.
Best laugh you hear is those who peddle the myth that to get the best executives going you’ve got to pay big money. Well in this country we pay the big money but get the biggest load of useless horse shite twots going to run our big business.

They're not called 'trial offices' anymore. The veil has been lifted - they are now 'pilot offices'.

Interestingly, in my research I noticed that Single Daily Delivery used the same language well in advance of its introduction:
Monday 15 July 2002 wrote: The pilot areas where the charges will be introduced include:
Crawley, West Sussex
Bow, east London
Edinburgh Dell
Sheringham, Norfolk
east Manchester
Llanelli, Wales
Newbury, Berks
Newhaven, East Sussex
Loughborough, Leicestershire
Halifax, West Yorkshire
Plymouth, Devon
Ballymena, Northern Ireland
Thirsk, north Yorkshire
St Helens, Merseyside.
The machine stops.

We're dispatching the outward with 1C and 2C separate but for the inward they get sorted together, before being dispatched to the DOs.

Does your MC have a DO attached?

Nope. I think that Belfast is the only MC with a DO attached.

I'm sure there are plenty of DOs left with sorting machines installed though.
