Ive worked over 12 yrs in delivery , getting older and the legs are getting sorer.Considered changing to distribution
last year, saw a nice duty in there repick, tue -fri 9am -7pm.Long days but also a long weekend every week. With my
seniority i could have picked it.However if you change from delivery to distribution in our office you have to do 6 months as a reserve.Thats what put me off.Looks like the legs are going to have last a few more years yet.Anyome else ever considered changing,if you did was it for the better.

Ever considered swapping from Delivery to Processing or Dist
I did deliveries for 7 years and then transferred to processing in the local Mail Centre, it was a good move, better hours, more choice of duties, didn’t feel knackered all of the time.
I did deliveries in the early eighties and found it hard work then, must be horrendous now, wouldn’t want to go back to it and don’t think I could cope.
Just transferred again to distribution and I am doing the reserve bit, didn’t fancy it at first but its not that bad, sooner or later I will get the duty of my choice, I just have to put up with a bit of sh@te for the short term.
At least you get a chance to do different duties and hours to see what you like, this will give you an idea of what duty suits you when are able to sign for a permanent duty.
If you were able to transfer into a duty within distribution straight away, then under the way forward agreement you would have to stay in that duty for 1 year, if you didn’t like it your stuck.
I have never regretted transferring and wouldn’t want to go back on delivery, hope this helps.
