Geo Route

Post by zola4ever »

At my delivery office the union are fighting an uphill battle over the geo route system. Management want to bring it in yesterday with one of the values that we will be walking at 4.2 miles an hour ! What planet are they on ? Is there a national agreed waling speed ? Also they are not interested in taking into account the terrain.
If I didn't know better I would they are just out to get rid of staff as cheaply as possible.

4.2 miles an hour is way too fast, there is no national agreement as such though.
As for the terrain, that's what the fecking programs for ffs.
Your area should be involved in this as well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

There are 2 walking speeds in geo route...4mph and 3.85mph..there are different speeds for golf trolleys, hct`s,etc. Ther are 3 different terrain types which can be set..flat, undulating and steep. The parameters which will effect everyone the most are call rate and attendance call rate. Attendance call rate which is set at 1.7% as default in geo route is very innaccurate at my do. (i.e if you have 100 delivery points it calculates you have 1.7 packets, recordeds, specials. thats any address which requires customer interaction) if you count your packets, recordeds which require customer contact and know the amount of delivery points on your walk, you can easily calculate what the attendance call rate should be. GET THE GEO ROUTE PLANNER TO CHANGE THIS or take it down the IR framework as a dissagreement. :Very Happy

Tried implementing Geo-route in our office approx 12 months ago. Three walks were tested using the geo-route method. All three were tested by the same person, who took D2D into account, bag weights ect.ie done it by the book. The jobs went over from 45 mins to 1 1/2 hours. Management knocked it on the head because it was giving the kind of results they did not want to see.

However, Geo-route has reared its ugly head once more and they are trying to implement it again. God only knows how much this crock of s*&t cost Royal mail, but the do seem very intent on using it as a hostile cost cutting tool.
