WHEN DOES YOUR DUTY FINISH?
We are having a few problems in the Rugby League capital of the world regarding when your duty actually finishes.A few colleagues who are taken to their walks in vans are now being told that they cant be picked up and returned to the delivery office as their duty is over when the last letter is delivered. It means some posties are left stranted 2 miles from where their cars are at the office.

At my DO we are allowed 15 minutes travelling time back to the office at the end of our duty. Pity it takes the bus 20minutes.

What exactly is the definition of 'too far away' for the first delivery point? No one in our office seems to know. And how steep does a hill have to be?disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Get them to give you a bike then you can cycle out to your round then back to the office. And if your first DP is too far away or up a steep hill then get a lift in the van

If you do not have toilet facilities on your walk ring up the Dom and he will have to arrange for you to return to the office at the end of your delivery.swintontillidie wrote:We are having a few problems in the Rugby League capital of the world regarding when your duty actually finishes.A few colleagues who are taken to their walks in vans are now being told that they cant be picked up and returned to the delivery office as their duty is over when the last letter is delivered. It means some posties are left stranted 2 miles from where their cars are at the office.

My duty finishes wherever i am at 1.55pm, that gives me 15mins back to office and 5 mins to sort my stuff out when i get back, do the job right, its so much easier, dont use your cars, dont run round! Yeah it used to be great but, royal mail say they want us to do our job properly, so do it. Also don't walk and sort your next address, do it when you get to the door, thats how its meant to be done.

On your 318 it should say how long it takes to get to your first DP so anywhere longer than that to get to is too far away or too steep a hill.sevenandseven wrote:What exactly is the definition of 'too far away' for the first delivery point? surely the business has an oblication of care to return you to the office?
The problem has occured because so many people use there cars and dont wish to return.
Another case of peoples selfish actions affecting others.
If everyone used the vans and was picked up to return to the office drivers duties would have to be altered to take this into consideration.
As it is now all they are trying to do is get the van men/women to deliver as much mail as they can in the time allocated and sod the poor postie who is stuck out on the street.

They are indeed obliged to return you to the office 'before your due finnish time ' As you need to wash your hands pouch off etc.. but don't despair soon when your supplied with you pda's etc.. everyone will have no option but to return and thus with a good deal of particpation from our posties our delivery times will have to be pegged at 3 1/2 hours so we can all get on the van back so much can be gained by 'our people' if they'd only realise it. kick them where it hurts stuff summer lapsing, stuff covering for one another and iff you o/t rates have been devalued then stuff the o/t as well who's going to cover all that work. and just who will come to there sences quickest ..together you'll achive more
