RMCtv : Some of you may have noticed that a new indoor scanning mode has appeared on PDAs today.

Post by POSTMAN »

Some of you may have noticed that a new indoor scanning mode has appeared on PDAs today.

This is the new Scan to Core Route (S2CR) application for Ready for Delivery (RFD) scanning of Tracked Parcels at prep areas.

We will shortly be briefing delivery colleagues on the new application, and how it will be used. The National Deployment team led by Peter Richardson will be contacting your COMs to arrange launch sessions.

Some of the advantages of the new application are that you will have visibility of known outdoor hazards on your PDAs, and that redirection and in-flight look-ups will happen automatically when the address is successfully extracted from the 2D barcode scan.

A S2CR workplace group has been set-up to capture your experiences and feedback on the new application – which will be shared with the development team to support application improvements. The workplace group also has posts covering the pilot at Cranleigh DO which shares their stories and experiences.

I'm guessing this is the rfd scan at prep fitting idea being rolled out.

We already scan all tracked "ready for delivery" at the prep fitting

Is this so each Postie scans their own parcels ready for delivery and thus dispensing with the work of the people currently doing it before we sort the parcels for each walk?

RM need to implement some kind of bulk "Item arrive at DO" scan so that someone can just scan the york and the system shows all the items in the york as having arrived at the DO

For those who don’t go on WorkFace, what was the consensus from Cranleigh?

Nothing interesting so far, only a few posts on there.

Most likely a "model" office then who are probably overstaffed?

I'm sensing we'll just be expected to scan the parcels ourselves during our normal hours before we leave the DO? We'll probably then have clock on our PDA counting down the time to when each customer expects their parcel due to be delivered!!

The missorts would get a missort scan and then go to wherever the missorts go
