S.A. payments 2008

Does anybody know the dates when we will get the S. A . payments this year?
usually they are in may & august

I think this is the thing that just magically appears in our wages,something to do with the amount of SA you've done over the year or something like that.
Confuses the feck outta me why we get it.

Scheduled Attendance - It is planned overtime usually for collections and once a year you get an additional payment based on the SA you've done over the year.

I don't do any (except Christmas) so I don't get the extra payment.

Reply for those who are lucky enough to have weekly contracted SA ....

Remember the days when you took a week's holiday and were worse off financially when you came back, because your income for that week did not include your regular SA ? Royal Mail in effect punished you for not performing your SA, which of course you couldn't because you were taking the leave to which you were entitled

I forget which one, but there was a pay deal a few years back which enshrined our right to be paid four weeks' SA (but see further down) for the weeks you are on leave, so you don't lose out financially by taking holidays. You can claim for it the week before the actual leave week(s) is / are taken, but if you don't, what happens in my office is someone from the bookroom will let people know to claim it just before the leave year finishes. In other offices, I think what happens is that the amounts get paid-out automatically at set times of the year, if you haven't claimed them already.

IIRC, originally RM only agreed to pay SA for 2 weeks leave. Typical of them that, even after they've been persuaded of the principle that it's unfair to make people lose out solely because they can't perform SA in Majorca (or wherever), they initially offered only to pay it for 2 of the four weeks

So is this based on SAs that you have signed for and do weekly or just an average of the number of SA hours you do. I pick up all my SA hours on a ad-hoc basis covering collections when people are on leave etc so it would suck for me if it based on hours signed for because I don't have any.

I only do xmas and i usually get a bit,so you should as well.
