New uniform quality

Post by Kenfandango »

Had my new uniform since early July. So far the shorts have bleached in the sun, so they're going orange on the front. The polo shirt has bleached unevenly so the body is really faded to a yellowy orange but the arms are still red. The RM logos are almost entirely gone, tatters of them remain (and I wouldn't say I wash it excessively.)

The red shirt is disgusting, and I won't wear it (it's entirely synthetic and makes me sweat profusely.) I'm not alone in walking the streets in yellowing "new" clothes, those of us who've got them are finding them completely unfit for purpose.

Anyone else getting these issues?

Simon says:

Team! - a lot of you seem to be 'bashing' the new uniform - and complaining about supposed 'quality issues'. We need to move on from this constant blame game - everyone has a responsibility for the uniform - manufacturers, suppliers, buyers and - very importantly - delivery officers. I'm sure if we all adopt a more positive attitude - and realise that Royal Mail supply more uniform to more staff than any other player in the delivery sector! - we'll feel a lot more comfortable in the fantastic new 'athletic performance' clothing that we've supplied at very considerable expense - and realise that we need to find innovate ways to make it last longer. Ken, consider sweating a bit less and perhaps carrying a parasol on delivery in order to keep the sun from bleaching your (free!) uniform.

Yeah the tops are real cheap, logo already nearly fully off after a few washes and the material is shredding where the bag has been in contact with it. The shorts wear well but are completely bleached (maybe should have given us tan shorts instead of black). Also the new shoes are a disgrace with no support or grip, gone back to the old design.

Didnt get as far as them bleaching, the seam on the shorts came unstitched and they fell apart wearing them on the very first shift!

the heat transfer logos are a money saving feature. Really should have been embrioderd like the old shirts.

Our office was told that apparently there is no money to get us the new uniforms that they said we had to order away last year, its a complete joke as 2 or 3 new starts have them.

Just remember Guys: Your Equipment is provided by the lowest bidder!

I have no intention of wearing any of the New Kit, although I haven't been issued any yet, and was recently reading an article about dealing with High Temperatures. One of the colours mentioned to deal with them was Light Blue (just like the Old Shirts) who would have guessed it eh? Didn't say anything about Red! :cuppa

As the saying goes "You get what you pay for" and that is exactly where RM are going if they get their way. Cheap and nasty and people will steer clear.
