Misdelivered package
I misdelivered a package to a wrong address and finding it impossible to retrieve it as there is never anyone home. The proper addressee has contacted the DO numerous times looking for the parcel. What will be the ramifications of this?

Re: Misdelivered package
There probably aren’t many of us that haven’t accidentally mis-delivered something at one point or another. We handle 1000s of items a day and can’t expected to be perfect and these things happen.
DOM will probably have a word and tell you to be careful going forward… it will only become an issue if it becomes a regular occurrence. I wouldn’t worry about it if this is the first time.

Aye we all do it, you could put a p739 through and ask them to leave it safe so you can pick it up , or appen they've decided to keep it

Re: Misdelivered package
Have left note asking them to contact the DO as to what they have done with it. The real owner has said that it's an item of value and I'm wondering what is the comeback on me if it isn't retrieved?pieoftheday wrote: ↑03 Aug 2022, 18:59Aye we all do it, you could put a p739 through and ask them to leave it safe so you can pick it up , or appen they've decided to keep it![]()

Re: Misdelivered package
Still an honest one off mistake that you've tried to rectify.if you were perfect you'd be a manager

Re: Misdelivered package
The value of the item is irrelevant, so don't worry about that. It should / may have been insured by the sender.
If they keep the item it is a criminal matter and can be reported to the police. I've been through that before as the people I delivered it to refused to answer the door. Explained the situation to a manager and that was the end of it from my perspective.
But most of the time these things resolve themselves, most people are actually decent and will pop the parcel to the right address or collar a postie.

Re: Misdelivered package
As long as you followed procedure (safeplace/through the letterbox/signature of some sort, even DWS) then there will be no ramifications. It just happens sometimes.

Re: Misdelivered package
Did it a few weeks ago, manager asked me to knock on to see of I could get it back 2 or 3 times then never heard about it again. Just don't make it regular thing.
