RMCtv : Frontline recruitment is about to get simpler
Through the Day in the Life Of (DILO) programme. our delivery managers told us they wanted the frontline recruitment process to be simpler.
Following a successful trial in the North West of England, we are pleased to roll out a new, faster process for submitting and approving frontline recruitment requests.
From 18 October 2021, unit managers across Royal Mail will be able to approve their own frontline recruitment through SuccessFactors. This will remove the need for, and time spent on, gaining further authorisation for recruitment. These changes include Royal Mail operations. Parcelforce, International, Relay and Property & Facilities Solutions. The new process is designed to give greater ownership and trust to our managers. It is a great example of a DILO initiative having benefits for all managers of frontline teams.
The new process
In future, once a frontline recruitment request has been submitted on SuccessFactors, the request will go direct to the HR Services recruitment team.
When making the decision to recruit, unit managers are encouraged to consider the type of contracts they offer and how this can improve retention. For example, recruiting people on permanent contracts is more attractive in the employment market. It is also important we manage candidate expectations by advertising the hours we expect our new colleagues to work.
In delivery operations, we are implementing a new management information tool to help managers make decisions on recruitment. This has been developed with managers in the North West and will bring together all the pieces of information a manager needs when deciding to recruit.
This new frontline approvals recruitment process starts on Monday 18 October. Any requisitions submitted but not approved before then will continue to follow the existing approval approach.
Yours sincerely.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've a distinct feeling that my Dom was the one who came up with the idea.
Well when you've had as many leave in the old craphole, then i guess you better think of something, still didn't stop another you can shove your job up your arse routine last week, followed by another 2 ill health retired.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Re: Frontline recruiment is about to get simpler
I'm particularly looking forward to the "advertising the hours we expect our colleagues to work" because, following our recent spectacularly failed revision, they haven't actually been able to tell existing staff on varying contracted hours that information - so what will they be telling potential new entrants?

You've got a point about the friends/relatives thing, but there's still that little problem of seniority. I'm sure Zareena isn't condoning nepotism..are you Zareena?

Exactly what happened at jubilee mail centre, managers got friends/relatives in as Xmas casuals every year and then take them on permanently …everyone is related to everyone..an inbred, festering, congenital dump…seniority is bypassed in a number of ways

It always surprises me that the powers above really do think that their managers at DO level are actually capable of being...managers

*sigh*
More trust in managers.
Can't trust posties.
Managers are failed posties.
Great problem solving.

Makes you wonder how Royal mail coped over the last 500 years, before these big wigs come up with these clever ideas.

Part timers cant even get made up in our unit even when we have vacancies and failing work daily. I dont hold much hope with this briefing.
Managers locally keep making promises things will get better but they are not. All words, no actions seem to be the current mantra
Im sure Xmas will be a blast
