A letter from Simon Thompson

Post by POSTMAN »

Simon Thompson

Team tomorrow all 90,000 delivery frontline colleagues will be getting a delivery from me - it is also attached to this post.

We are now approaching the peak period for our business - the opportunity for us to show our customers, whether our retail and access partners or our receiving customers at their doorsteps, exactly what we can do.

As I have always said, we own ‘trust at the doorstep’. It is magical, it is uniquely ours.

But delivering everything on time whether a letter or a parcel, is fundamental to building trust.

My simple ask, and I know at times it will be a challenge, is for us all to work together to make sure that we clear every office, every day.

By working as a team, we will keep all our customers, including our retailer customers, happy and put ourselves in a great position to ask for even more of their business next year.

The more we grow, the more we can invest and the faster we will re-invent Royal Mail for the next generations…and of course you.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

OPG This job is an absolute joke, why should I have to come back to a full frame after having my day off !!!!

Simon Thompson " that would annoy me as well - team we need to work together - with our leaders - to make sure we all have a fair workload - and we are correctly resourced to deliver it...."

Absolute fantasy island out of touch beyond the observable universe delusion all wrapped up in one letter.
Maybe start making us part timers who have been waiting a decade+ up to full time and I’ll start thinking about clearing other peoples frames. Until then I’ll keep coming in at 9am to a half prepped frame and debating which loops I’ll be leaving in so I can finish on time.

Why choose a Monday to show the number of DO's failing to be clear when that's now by far the lightest day of the week?

It's a concern that they are looking at the number of temporary staff employed this festive season, as that can only mean even more work will need to be done by the permanent staff.

Revisons done by October ?? Only if the routes are not changed and hence it will not be fair, as like many depots we have routes that finish an hour before others, but if you alter one route, you end up altering most, and that will not happen in time for October-so it will not be done
Part timers need to made up-we running out of personnel on the IPS frames
They need to learn it and fast
We currently 8 on the sick, some walks not gone out for 2/3 days
Tracked items are going !!! After all bonuses for managers re those as we all know !!
Only Company that would go under, if it did not pay out overtime ?? Save Money ?? We awash with money Guys here can dictate what they want-not what they told re Overtime
Workforce is fatigued/stressed 18 months now little respite - 4x times the amount of parcels before Covid, but no Parcel Vans only ??????
We just had another 2 Covid cases, and looking at information on here, many areas all over the UK still in deep trouble re staff/isolate etc
Sickness ?? Told people this before re certain lady in Admin high place !! Royal Mail second only to the NHS staff themselves re Sickness
Above teaches/railways/police/councils etc
If everyone singing from the same Hymn sheet maybe office would get cleared
But when you got 6/7 different contract hours re part time personnel, Full timers leaving/retiring and not replaced like for like less numbers than ever on IPS and to throw off part time walks
then naturally mail will not all be delievered Not Rocket Science
Strange thing is when in joined in the late 90s nothing left behind ????? But then we all know despite what we told Mail and parcel volumes off the richter scale compared to the late 90s
We overwhelmed now, and not even close to Christmas yet

Just after your day off, try being a reserve I come into a failed delivery most days.

The company is beyond a joke at this point.

That is the biggest complete and utter bollocks that I have ever read. No interest at all in anything that goes on in the real world.

Surprised that he didn't add that if you are going to die of exhaustion, make sure you've cleared your Tracked and Specials first.

I take it Simon doesn't know that quite a lot of offices aren't reporting their failures

Beyond parody, this pillock should be writing comedy sketches for BBC TV shows or Conservative Party manifesto pledges.

Doesn't take rocket science to work out if you reduce staff on IPS you get out later
Later out the office 9.45
Finish lapsing at 11am
leaving 2 hours to do 2 frames when it takes 5 hours
Higher management haven't go a clue and writing these letters is only going to make things worse and make them look stupid
