Is this a wind up?

Post by Woody Guthrie »

Doing the rounds on FB
f***ing hilariously dumb idea.

Royal Mail are encouraging you to post any unwanted elastic bands in their post boxes! They will be reused by the team, and the broken ones will be recycled!

Even if an elastic band is ‘biodegradable’ they can still take many years to degrade. That's why we love this simple idea of Reusing & Recycling, to stop bands ending up on our floors and making their way into the ocean.

Come on now Woody, we need to band together on this issue. This is where the rubber meets the road...or metal in this case. :chuckle

That'll probably result in a lot more jams for IMPs and CFCs, on a busy day that could have the knock-on effect of more mail going as manual. They won't get recycled in the MC, any bands found in the CFCs and IMPs will just go straight in the bin

Hands up who has time to root around in a pillar box for used bands.
Advertising a pillar box as a bin I think is another own goal !!

It was posted by RM Twitter peeps a while back and has since gone viral, it was after a query and the answer was, post them in a post box and the posties will reuse them.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We just need to partner up the people that get stressed with finding elastic bands on the street ..... with the people who keep asking "Have you got any spare elastic bands"! :cuppa

I mean if you're going to do this, use a separate box, not the bloody collection boxes.

It's bad enough when they're being filled incorrectly of Covid-19 test kits.

People posting bands back into the boxes has been going on for many years judging by the amount of them that end up in the CFC Ist Settledown/coin trap area under tray.
There was an idea to clean and recycle them (from there) back in the days when TPM was seen as worthwhile but that came to nothing, and no-one was going to manually root through the dust, lolly sticks, hypo needles, sweet wrappers and other assorted shite to save 10p's worth of bands.
