Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 16 June. We appreciate your comments!
IT'S NO SECRET IT'LL BE CRAP
So managers are trying to keep us in the dark,
as long as they can, regarding this future resign.
We know they'd like to make their plan
behind closed doors and then present us with a
final product. But we already know it won't be
to our liking. So they should stop playing hide-and-
seek and just come out with it!
WORST PARTY EVER...
We already know that the resign will bring
three extra duties on Night distribution, but no
new drivers? Instead, we hear drivers from
Lates might be expected to do them… but
then who'll do the Late duties? This is just one
big game of musical chairs! We're going to
have to call "stop"!
EXTRA WORK FOR FREE?
There's a crazy rise in the number of test kits
passing through processing here now. Far too
many compared to the number of us! It's
certainly a fat contract for RM. And it's a fat lot
of work too!
WE FEEL IT IN OUR BONES!
No wonder more and more of us have been
suffering from musculo-skeletal problems:
we've been understaffed for yonks! So we're
all lifting, carrying and sorting more than our
share of the work. And no, the slight decrease
in packet volumes hasn't helped our
muscles&bones... No two ways about it, the
workload needs cutting, we need more breaks
and above all, new recruits!
WE CAN BE PATIENT...
Why are workmates on light duties being asked
to sort packets, which are certainly not light
duties?! Managers say they can't find enough
light duties for all of us, but that's ridiculous -
and anyway while they are looking for light
work for us to do, we can sit down and wait...
NO TO THEIR JOB CUT!
Something that should be on canteen
managers' "menu" for their next resign is the
number of canteen staff... which is totally
inadequate. On Nights, the single worker left
the job and was replaced by... another single
worker, who in fact used to cover for absences.
In other words they've got away with cutting a
job!
MORE WORKERS = TASTIER FOOD!
This isn't just bad for our mate who has to
cover for the entire shift on her own, but we
wouldn't mind fresh food either - which can
only happen if there are more canteen workers!
HOW TO BRING THE SHOP BACK?
In fact, we all remember the shop that used to
be open all night, where we could buy cheap
snacks! And guess what killed it? The
managers' wave of EVRs, of course. So that's
another thing that we want to see making its
way back. Managers can easily dedicate a few
duties for keeping the shop open.
NO NEED OF THEIR HOT AIR
Oh dear, the heat has reminded us that
refreshments were something we used to have
delivered to our workstations... What do we
have to do to bring this back? Some managers
could make themselves useful and bring us
some cool fresh orange juice!
FOOTY OR GIG?
And since we're in a reminiscing mood... what
about the radios? We used to have them
hanging from pillars in every area to listen to
music or football... That's another thing we
wouldn't mind having back - and about the right
time of the year as well.
ENGINEER NEEDED
And now we mention it, the AirCon in PSA is
not adequate to cool the whole room and the
controls are nowhere to be found... We need
the engineers to come down and help please
ASAP!
LOW AGE, LOW PAY?
So TeePee tells us in his latest FaceBook
video that the Postal Cadet Scheme is back...
It's good news as long as they are on equal
pay for equal work - but that means us fighting
for it - because RM for sure would like to have
them on the "apprentice min wage" of 4.30/hr!

Re: 16/06/21 Mount Pleasant Bulletin
Don't know if they're being done on a different shift now but all the Covid related PPE stuff seems to have stopped coming through on our night shift as well as the large boxes of Covid test kits. The amount of normal Covid test kits seems to have dropped off a lot
You can't have a duty existing light duties or not if the work load isn't there. Flats and manual letters are a lot quieter than they used to be, so less staff needed. If an office has any DDAs then chances are the flats and letters duties will already be spoken forjimallen wrote: ↑21 Jun 2021, 07:31WE CAN BE PATIENT...
