Lock the PDA in outdoor mode

Post by Jahpostie »

Is there any way to lock the PDA in outdoor mode? I'm sick of it coming out of the mode or if I don't lock it and then knock it its then in Memo mode or asking me if I really want to log out etc etc.

Postie answered your question.

It takes more time to lock the app via the screen selection than it does to tap the On/Off switch to close the screen between jobs. Hitting the On/Off button keeps you in outdoor mode.

The more you use that button at some point in the day it stops working it happens almost everyday it will stop working at some point.the pda is to big we were told there working on smaller ones heres hoping.there is no need for the entire screen to be a touchscreen makes handling it almost impossible without pressing something you didn't want to.

What they should have had when designing them is a physical slider switch which when in the on position would have the PDA ignore any input from the touch screen. It's more annoying when you're scanning a couple of thousand Tracked in a shift

I keep my PDA in my front right trouser pocket, removing the strap & pen, have to admit every time I get it out, it’s on the wrong screen, not fit for purpose :arrrghhh

Yes! This happens all the time. Bloody nightmare.

You end up clicking through all sorts of functions whilst the thing is in your pocket. I've accidentally cancelled entire collection points.

Only thing that fixes it is taking the battery out and re-booting the whole thing.

It surely can't be difficult to have an "Outdoor" and "Outdoor locked" option. The locked option would keep you in Outdoor mode and could be changed by holding the on/off button which would present you with the option to come out of Outdoor or reboot etc. I only scan bar codes or on the odd occasion adhoc enter a bar code. The scan buttons could automatically unlock the PDA when pressed and lock up screen when submitted. How much more efficient this would be. They have just added functionality for every function and not thought of the practicality of its main function out on delivery.

Press the oval button at the bottom right of the pda and it will go into standby. Sometimes if you've caught that button it stop the on/off switch working for whatever reason

If it doesn’t switch off, push the circle bottom right. The PDA will make a noise, then it will switcH off

The manager?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
