Is there such a thing in Royal mail, the equivalent of occ health? Having issues with my knee and hip,had mri scan and meeting with doctor, who advised no operation will fix it(meniscus tear) advised to continue part delivery and callers office if able to accommodate in my office, just wondered if my condition can be looked at for advice and guidance on a way forward, any thoughts.

Royal Mail have an Occupational Health via Optima Health. You can ask a manager to refer you but you cannot refer yourself. If it's that bad they might consider you for IHR or similar.

Many thanks for that, will see what they come up with re the way forward, with correct management and some type of physio hopefully it may heal a bit,and be less uncomfortable on delivery.

Depending on your age, cartilage can heal itself. Meniscus tears are pretty common, and you can have an op, but the typical "fix" is to remove the bit hanging off and/or create small snips to help encourage healing.
It took me 2x physios, 2x doctors and a knee specialist to get help when i tore mine. Almost ten years on things are much better through physio, better diet, and avoiding twisting with weight on the knee. I refused the op once i read up how the "fix" was done. I don't feel like i have the same bit floating or popping out around the side of my knee now, though still not 100%
Obviously i don't know anything about your issues, so just posting on the chances it may help. Keeping knees warm is also a good idea imo.

Many thanks for your reply, after my visit to go through the mri scan, they seemed well against any surgery at all,so it’s physio etc to help it heal on its own, hopefully with help from Royal Mail to accommodate me,in getting back to full fitness, knee strengthening exercises etc.WASD wrote:Depending on your age, cartilage can heal itself.
