can I have some advice we have been told to leave loops of mail and pkts/pcls in until the following day and deliver them loops that was left and leave another 2 loops and so on , and this is all about saving excess claims , is this a national agreed way to work or is it just some cunting plan in our orifice.

Pressure overtime hasn't been paid in our office for about two months now. If can't clear you leave mail, if you still can't clear tracked and oversized are priority. On top of this we have high levels of sickness and three retirements since the Covid outbreak. Most of the reserves are covering two duties per day just doing packets.

Dont know the official line but...

We are told to take all parcels but we can leave mail in the frame if we cant complete.

Pre CV19 we would take all mail or whatever to our time & the rest would be covered on o/t by anyone who wanted it.

this only kicked into today but I was just wondering if the cwu are aware of what they are trying to do , because if it was a postie wanting to finish on time then you are told to take all mail and leave pkts/pcls ? , and it would end up in an argument as usual , so what has changed ?

Happening long before COVID at our office, you can claim overtime at the moment if you want to complete but still not clearing a lot of walks because a lot of people have had enough and just want to work till their time.

This overtime debacle rumbles on from office to office dependant on what type of fairminded boss you have,we don’t get it if we go over god forbid, cos we finished early some days ago, some people long gone while others still out,not sure I want help to finish early, happy to work up to my finishing time,as strange as that is,no manager to manage that, only a long winded chat on the phone, full of sarcasm ,not sure the I think I’m not going to complete system is alive with our boss, maybe ring people up at home and get them back in to finish some rounds god forbid!,

Doesn't seem to be a problem in our office, everything's going out everyday and if I go over, which is 2 or 3 times a week given the volume of large parcels I'm just claiming the overtime. It adds up quite nicely.

Reps should make sure everything is reported...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I am amazed by the differences in ways of working in different D.O.s Here's my week so far. Absolutely smashed on Monday with 2 days letters and copious amounts of packets/parcels. Delivered the lot and claimed 1 hour 20 mins o/t. Very little mail on Tuesday and finished well before official finishing time. Had an OMV transfer before my duty on Wednesday so another 2 hours o/t claimed. Got called in today on my day off because someone phoned in sick so another 7 hours 40 minutes today. So, absolutely no problem with sickness/pressure o/t here. Why are there these differences when we are all working for and paid by the same company? Ridiculous for a company who brands itself as an Equal Opportunity Employer. Offices that have a Pressure overtime ban do not afford their workforce the same opportunities as ours to earn more by working more even when the work is there needing done. I reiterate, Ridiculous!!!

Do different regions have different budgets?
Do they manage them differently?

Is it possible region A has spent their's while region B has some left?

I believe but I could be wrong that the budget for overtime varies on the FT to PT ratio per office, the more part timers the bigger the OT budget. More lapsed duties also creates a bigger budget.

Your absolutely right my friend,to be fair it doesn’t happen that often ,I wonder what the bosses boss says about overtime ?he obviously looks out for you and happy to pay it,which is right, but ours won’t have any of it,he’ll do the van runs to workshop,in the morning he’s busy scanning tracked items while we sit waiting for our start time,I’m not sure how it’s set out from office to office,it can’t be right,,even some failed duties have been picked up on the afternoon collection s a to complete,I take it you tell him your not going to complete and will be claiming?or bring it back,it’s a minefield

Rather than go back to a 6 day letter delivery I think it would have made more sense to have a second day of the week (Tuesday) allocated to parcels only.

Trouble is you'd have to factor in customer-business and business-business mail. MCs aren't going to process just that alone, it's all or nothing
