BR Tax code

Post by Philbag70 »

Hi all. I've worked for RMG for almost a year now and managed to get through almost unscathed, until now.
All of a sudden( well since the new financial year) i've inexplicably been put on a tax code of BR, without warning, and all my wages are now taxed. I'm losing a lot of money each week and can no longer afford to pay my bills.
HMRC are too busy to answer my call or even reply online. Apart from speaking to the person in my DO who does the hours, does anyone have any advice on what to do? Has this happened to others?

Thanks for replying. No. No other income than RMG. My financial situation is the same now as last financial year

Have you got the HMRC app? There's an option in there to update your employment details to get the correct tax code. Don't know if it will be any quicker than phone or email, but worth a try.

BR CUM is an emergency tax code, look on the bright side, you will be due a nice Tax Rebate.

Write to get it changed through that. Works fine, you may have to wait, but no longer than if you asked through phone.
