Holidays picked for us (Gosforth DO)
Hi just wondering how many of yous come from offices that pick your holidays for you and then you have to swap them if you want to change them? It seems unfair we don't get to choose any of our holidays and wanted to know if this is the norm.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Thats exactly what happened at our office, pathetic.
Can't organise a rota or holidays shouldn't be a manager.

It's a BIG no no.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yeah they do this in our office and we have 150 staff.
It has been challenged several time’s however nothing has ever been done about it and the union rep is not interested.

It happens in our office of 100+ too, the DOM support does it. Has been doing for years. The majority of the staff don't seem bothered because they do all right from it, but it does mean quite a few have weird spreads of holidays e.g clumped together in winter months as they are perceived to be more easily persuaded

hallo, our Scottish office is the same your are allocated a 3 week slot on a firm accept , no one has told us that this is not the case, and that if you cannot manage a swap then you are stuck with the slot you have got , in some cases you could be given the first 3 weeks in april for example , try swapping them. I had no idea that you could challenge the allocated slot, which this year according to what I have read on this debate page, I am legally entitled to my annual leave when I want it which should be the case. thanks to you Blue Terrier you have opened a new outlook on my applying for annual leave and I will not be scurrying about looking for a swap.

This really is a shocking example of BAD MANAGEMENT.
I mean WTF do these idiots think they're playing at? Does the District Manager tell them when they've got to take their Holidays? I bet not
I thought we had it bad when they expect us to give them dates for our Holiday next year!
But at least we do have some input. I think you've all got to try and get this problem resolved, but be assured it is NOT the standard procedure for the rest of Royal Mail!
