I sprained my wrist and have now been put onto light duty, what exactly does that mean and what will I likely be doing?

You'd have to ask the management. Suffice to say that although the light duty SHOULD avoid stressing your injury further, management aren't medically trained so any of the so called light duty that DOES look like it will exacerbate your injury should be complained about ASAP. If you get any blowback from the screws about it get onto your rep.

A light duty is where somebody gets finish before 12pm everyday and well before 11am on Tuesday/Saturday lol

All jokes aside - it just means that you won't be on a big round with not many calls

Light duty would definitely mean you would not deliver a whole walk.
You might do part of a walk or some parcels / 'overweights' .
You would likely start later and finish earlier than usual.
You might just do indoor work such as man the callers office, prep D2Ds, sorting mail etc.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

RM will do anything to avoid giving light duties unless you are mates with the managers in my experience they will say, we have no indoor work and send you home incuring stage warnings or they will say you'll have to go sick (unless it suits them such as not wanting to suspend you for something and then they will get you in at 4.00am )So if you have been offered light duties grab it. Im getting to know all their tricks they never fail .

What ever you can get away with. You tell OHS what you can or cannot do, they will repeat that verbatim in the report to your manager as though they said it and you are off on a jolly for as long as you can. Fact. I know a lady who sprained her ankle and got away with indoor ‘arsing around’ for TWO years. Another, a male driver messing around delivering a handful of specials, same as TWO years of light duties and got himself sacked rather than admit he was dicking around.

The best was a lady who had genuine ‘plumbing’ problems that were of course ultimately fixed. She milked the system for 5 years doing around 2/3 quarters of a delivery. When the manager finally got her to the point where she was to be medically retired due to being unable to complete a full delivery, Lazarus like she made a full recovery and could all of a sudden do a full delivery. Then when she saved her job, within a few weeks she pulled the ‘can’t do a full delivery stunt’ and as far as I know she is still there doing less the full duties.

So it’s up to you and how soft your DOM is.

There is no such thing has light duty in the Royal Mail I found that out to my detriment, on so called light duties for a week, I was doing more than I was on my round lol made my knee worse, I then went back on sick, the managers just nag the life out of you.
