Holiday Pick

Post by centenaryman »

how do the holiday picks go in your office.....I hate ours since they introduced a new system last year.

before last year ive never had a problem in 10 + years getting a couple of weeks each year that are what I want.

but last year we were put in groups of 7 or 8 and told to pick your 4/5/6 weeks.
once all in your group have picked it then becomes a fight to get the weeks if anybody has picked yours...only 1 person in your group of each week.

so august is crazy this year 7 of us want the weeks in our group 1 lad even wants 3 weeks and wont budge.

last year the d.o.m made us toss a coin to decide (f ing crazy)
we have a new d.o.m this year he says this is the way the rest of the company pick....but is less than committal on how to decided who gets what....

also weve never had it this late b4 not knowing next years holidays.

We all thought we were getting our holidays done early this year when we gave our picks in, in September. But we’ve still not had them back

We get 2 weeks to put down - and thats not guaranteed. All the other annual leave weeks are all over the shop! Surely, management don't have these problems??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

And this is why people go off sick. We should be allowed the weeks we want and the management should just get on with getting the resources in to cover. Just lazyness on managements part.

Booking 2 yrs in advanced and only block weeks is just annoying. Unless your a brown noser you can't get the weeks you want or the odd days you might have left.
