Sickness question

Afternoon, Unfortunately i recently suffered a leg injury and obviously due to the nature of the job its forced me to be off sick as i am currently in a full length leg cast/boot to the knee and having to use crutches to aid me walking. My issue is that RM have been keeping in contact with me at least weekly for updates which i have no problem with however ive been told i should be coming back on light duties despite the fact ive got a sick note saying im not fit for work for many more weeks yet. My main concern is just to get better and not risk any recurrence of the injury that sets me back but as you can imagine the added pressure is just adding some unneeded stress to my situation. My sickness record is as good as immaculate before this so can i just assume there trying it on to make their personal record figures look better and just stay off till the end of my current sickness note/when adviced to go back? Thanks

If You have a cast on Your leg and walk with crutches no F’ing way should You go in to work I would think.

I imagine 3 months minimum. Dom will probably get OH to get in touch, they will call you and make a record of your injury. Then once your out your cast you will need physio to build the muscle back up. Your Dom isn’t a qualified doctor, just remember that!

Do you get 6 months full pay? If the answer is yes then DO NOT go back in on light duties

Thanks for the reply guys im getting the impression they are just trying it on to get me back against doctor advice as i though. And i believe i do get the full sick pay yes ive been at the company over 6years

Just remember if anything went wrong the manager would put the blame on you because you went against the doctor's advice. You are entitled to 6 months on full pay then a further 6 months on half pay. Before you return ask to be refered to occupational health because you are entitled to a rehab plan - to get you gradually back to work full time

I had similar sort of thing happen to me a few yrs ago i was off for 6 months it takes as long as it takes and dont rush back just on thier say so it solves nothing
your dr is saying your off until then thats more than sufficient for them to be getting on with i had pins put in my foot and when it came to getting boot
removed they said right we need to take the metal work out that was in there and because had been off already for 6 months i was bored of day time tv i asked them what was worst case sanarioes of leaving the metal pins in and his reply was any problems then you will have to come back and have them out but as regards to contact because when in boot crutches etc your situation does not change weekly so i told my manager i would ring him fortnightly or when i had another appointment to see the specialist
