Job and finish

At our office we have to stay until the end of our duty time even if it means we are all standing around and the office is clear .so was wondering if we are in the minority. Seems we are being treated unfair if we are. . My argument with the manager today was why can't we go home when all the work is done after all rm pay us to deliver the mail which we do and as long as thats done it shouldn't matter if it takes us 5 hours or 8 we have done what they pay us to do . Anyway just got the usual dom stupid look lol

job and knock went out the window when p&l came in , and would any other business let you go home if you've done your work ? as your still on pay till your finish time regardless if the work is done , so your dom says to you yes you can go home but im going to pay the hours you've worked or if you go over tomorrow I will take that time back would you be happy ? did you start on time ? did you take your break ? did you use the methods ? as the CWU is pushing this . and then on busy days tell them oh by the way I wont be going over my time so I will contact you on whats coming back

and if you have an issue with that check the pda data .

How bizarre! Having to stay and go home the time your supposed to and get the appropriate pay? Would love to see our boss on my return,and be told that,no problem with that at all,

How often do you finish early?

The only day I have ever finished early is Saturday. I mostly finish late.

I assume that if you are kept until your finish time then you probably finish early a lot. If not, and you go over your time a lot and say work an extra 10 minutes for free quite often, not sure why they wouldn't let you leave 10 or 15 mins early.

We have to stay as well (although those who ghost their overtime, don't get asked to stay and can go same time as everyone else). Although usually if there is absolutely nothing to do they normally let us go.

Stay until finish time, just remember to hand back a loop at xmas

If the business wants to play by the rules by ensuring that no one leaves until their scheduled end time then they should have absolutely no complaints whatsoever if people also wish not to work any overtime as well, whether that be because of the lapse or if they want to leave a few loops from their own duty.

And secondly, I would also say that ghost overtime should stop as well because all that is going to happen in this above scenario is a few guys pocketing all the overtime doing the lapse and other peoples loops and still finishing on time; but still being paid a few hours overtime every day!! What other business do you know that accepts that?? We aren't self-employed, we are employees of a business, and the CWU really should be hammering the Royal Mail for allowing this because....

Then, and only then, when ALL posties do the job properly there wont actually be any scope to take duties out of the office and/or lapse or make duties bigger. Just a shame the Union isn't really that forward thinking and prefer to preach to everybody instead to work their time and pick up lots of flak from their managers.

Would love that to happen in my office. I would gladly return the favour on busy days and leave stuff in/bring stuff back

When we finish we go home - most days I’d say (at a guess) we probably finish half hour early or bang on time.

There are days we go over also. But a recent example is today. Finish time on the signing in sheet was 14:00. Finished at 13:20.

In our office as long as you take a bit of flex they are not bothered what time you finish .

If your generally finishing half an hour early every day, say there's 50 of you at your DO, that will be 25hrs (50 x 0.5hrs) that management (either the DOM or his/her boss) will look to take out of your office at some point

If we have taken lapsing which is every other day now, we can go home before finish time, if we haven’t done lapsing we come back and do d2d’s until finish time!

Start on time finish on time it's standard everywhere ! We still get part timers in at 6.50am for free but more fool them !! Why not go over and claim the money instead of working for free hey ho
