Pouching off ?

Hi can someone tell me can we pouch off ( van share) as we work on a village area where we live,managers now are say we cant pouch off unless we have a doctor's appointment hospital appointment etc....... we do have some of the office on 9 day fortnight duties who funny enough to home before us, so you can see why I'm asking, seems one rule going on

Surely if you are a van share you should be finishing about the same time.
Thats the problem in my office , the van duties have some where one postman is dropped off and bags put in boxes. Leaving the driver left with his own delivery to do plus all the outsize parcels for both routes. This often leaves the driver out still delivering while the other postman is sometimes away home (On one occasion I caught the postman walking home and asked him to help deliver the outsized parcels for his route to which I was told "No im not wanting to be out any longer")

Your right we do finish about the same time only the problem is the volume of parcels and the round is now to big and nothing is being done about it ? We also have to absorb a town round and deliver that at all cost which means bringing parcels back from ours .... so they are now saying if you don't ask or absorb you cant pouch off ?

Play them at their own game. EVERYTHING done by the book. They will soon get pissed off and revert back to letting you pouch off ect. Also as a driver if your partner is being a dick, then I'm sure you can keep him waiting in the rain while you deliver your specials/larger parcels ect ect. More than one way to skin a cat. Two posture on van share should just dig each other out. FFS it's bad enough dealing with arsey doms/linos never mind workmates.

taking your dispatched packets/tracked/signed for/reggies, bags, and PDA back to the office when you finish your duty.

"Pouching Off' ceased to be when the new ways of working ( van-shares and HCT duties) were brought in a good few years ago ! Prior to this ( when it was "job and knock") us posties had to "pouch-off" ALL our undelivered mail and parcels at the end of our shift on the street. There was none of this returning to the office shite. After your delivery ended you placed undelivered mail and small parcels in a small blue pouch and either posted it ( in a street pillar box) or went to the nearest Post Office and handed the stuff (and big parcels) over to the cashier. I vaguely remember having to get a signature from PO staff for undelivered Specials. Once this was done you went home... or to the pub.

At work next day the pouch would have found it's way to your duty drop-bag and so to your frame where you dealt with the endorsed items within. Happy Days

If my workmate on the shared van tries to take the piss I make him come round and deliver the parcels at the start with me. Id rather help him finish his walk (on the rare occasion I am finished first) than drop him off to start his and have him away home while Im still out delivering.
