Redirection Envelopes being Discontinued.

Further adventures of RM cost-cutting ..........

Our DOM has been trying to order more A4 sized redirection envelopes for ages without success or response. Finally an email has been sent out by RM saying due to the drop in letters it is not financially viable to continue buying redirection envelopes of any size. Therefore once existing stocks are exhausted each item will require a redirection sticker instead. Given the price of ink nowadays I wonder if there will be any money saved from this decision.

The latest 5 year plan from Royal Mail suggests £1 Billion of "Cost Avoidance" can be achieved over a 5 year period. I guess doing away with Redirection Bags is one way to avoid costs ? ? ?

looking at the amount of forms we are signing for - around 10 in last three weeks,think royal mail have bought shares in BIRO.

I think ending the use of single use plastic is a good idea.
I haven't used a redirection bag in years.
The small ones aren't fit for purpose anyway.

We get slapped wrists in our office if we have more than 2 letters to be redirected and don't put them in a redirection bag.

There must be a good few times where a load of redirections for a walk get banded up and just a single redirection stick is placed on the top one only then at somepoint the band comes off and then apart from the top one they end up going to the original destination DO.

I remember having to hand write the Redirections!
Advance backwards!

Paper towels have recently been removed our toilets to save money.
Dom will issue you three sheets of loo roll if you sign for them

More commonly they are called redirection bags. Made of red and white printed polythene with a peelable adhesive strip to seal the bag. They come in sizes A5, A4, & A3.

RM are looking to hire 3 top buyers to renegotiate ALL the supplies that they currently buy. They spend two and a quarter billion pounds per year on buying services, stationary,uniforms ect. The suppliers have been told that RM want savings of a minimum of six million this year alone on stationary,energy and fleet parts. If the suppliers don't or can't accommodate RMs wish list, then theirs plenty of other businesses waiting for a slice of the pie. Why don't they just ask all YOUS because posties know what's needed to do the job and what's a piece of overpriced deal like company boots that hardly anyone wears at great cost to RM. They could get a better deal by going to sports emporium and with RM buying power get really good walking boots for about a quarter of the retail price.
