No it's not, it's slightly higher. It drops AFTER the first 10 hrs of overtime (above 38hrs) that you do.

My answer is based on the terminology RM use to describe the OT and how PT'ers interpret the terminology (myself included!).

My understanding is any OT you work up to 38 hrs are at SSPR rate (so technically it's not OT it's the normal pay rate, but to
many PT'ers it is the OT rate).

The next 10 hrs after (so OT above 38 hrs up to 48 hrs worked which on the pay chit they call 1st 10 Hrs - which it is for a FT'er)
are at a lower rate, going by a recent pay chit I had (I don't have any allowances, SA or anything like that, just basic delivery):

10 hrs of Weekday OT @ SSPR for 122.96 (so 12.29 'ish p/h)

Then 3.00 hrs of Weekday OT1 1st 10 Hrs for 35.39 (so 11.79 'ish p/h).

PT Get paid more per hr than FT so it's hard to give an answer.

Royal Mail Pay Rates

UP TO 38hours (*)
£12.29 (20.4p/min) (£11.62 base rate + £0.67 Delivery Sup)
1ST 10 HOURS (38 - 48 hours) (**)
£11.72 (19.5p/min) 1st 10 hours (-£0.57 per hour)
OVER 1ST 10 HOURS (over 48 hours) (***)
£11.32 (18.9p/min) over 10 hours (-£0.97 per hour)

(*) A p/t on a 25hr contract will be paid at this rate for the 1st 13hr o/t (upto f/t hours 38hr)
(**) Anyone who works between 38 - 48 hours will be paid this rate for the hours worked between 38 - 48 hours (max of 10 hours)
(***) Any hours worked over a total of 48hr will be paid at this rate.

Schedule Attendance is paid at £12.29 / hour

The first 10 hour rate does not contain any delivery supplement. That’s why it’s lower.

It depends on how you interpret the figures. If you just go off the basic rate then overtime is more. If you add up all the additional sums with the basic rate then the amount you get paid for overtime is less than RM usually pays. In times gone by overtime was 'time & a half' as standard but those days are long gone now.
