tyre changing advice PLEASE .

what's the policy for tyre changes for vehicle delivery staff ? ,when ,where or what can or can't we do ? .Any advice would be appreciated please I as cannot find anything under H&S or anything anywhere about this .

In our office we are not allowed to change wheels ,if on duty when you get a puncture you have to call the rac and wait (for hours usually) h&s i suppose

When I started in the 80s we used to do our own tyre changing and my DO at the time had its own mechanic on site, I think things changed mid 90s, we had to call out the mechanic to do the job, now its RAC recovery.

Its gone over to H&S risk adverse culture.

All vehicles are supposed to have spares and a jack. I know a while back our local workshop had 70 of their wheels go missing so it may be that they've been nicked. If you call out the RAC to deal with a flat they won't fix it as they don't have the equipment.They will only change it for you and if there isn't a spare they can't do this.

Seemed to change when one or two board members were with both companies

If you haven't had the training from RM you aren't allowed to do it now. You might be able to arrange with your DOM to get the training if others at your DO want to do it too. The training covers several tasks including changing tyres, replacing bulbs, replacing windscreen wipers, and something else I can't recall. A guy will come to your DO and do the training on site.
