PDA actuals

Has anyone seen what is actually produced out of a walk? To my mind all postie's should be shown what data is gathered and how it is used.

Does it show how many steps I walked, how many packets I scanned, my route, how long I stopped etc etc. Has anyone seen a report generated?

I believe you can request to see the information if you are that interested.

When either the doms or planners look at the information all they will be looking at is how long does your shift take on a given day. Remember this "its about working smarter not harder".

Funny that because the pda guru was with our Dom showing him how to interpret the data on the dash board. Since then he's been questioning people about what they are doing on delivery, going down streets twice, going off route and not moving for periods of time. No one's been questioned about finishing times though so "working smarter not harder" had better not mean finding ways to drag it out because they show up clear as day on the actuals

Nothing to fear from PDA Actuals if you are doing your job properly, taking your breaks during work time and using the correct equipment. Of course managers will probably misuse the evidence, but they cannot falsify a PDA Actual record yet as far as I know.

Our manager hasn't got a clue what to do with the data that the PDAs collect.

It's a GPS trace of where you (actually the PDA) are during your day. Of course it can't tell how many steps you took. It can see where you are and at what time, so yes, if you're not moving for an hr, they'll want to know why.

When you get to look at your PDA actuals it will frighten you ........ as a rep I have to sit down and show my manager how to access it ..... when we viewed one of the postmen he had gone off route to the supermarket and the 'bread crumb' trail showed him walking up and down the isles

If you take the battery out ...... it also records it as a red blob incident and the DSM should be looking at it ......

same as if you go off route

just do the job properly drive within the speed limit and put your seat belt on every time , take your break and pace yourself ...... it's only a matter of time before the dinosaurs we have as mangers twig and start dumping extra flex on everyone via the PDA actuals

Only two people have the right to see the PDA actual reports, us the rep's and the DIM.

People are fools, like the rep above has said.

The Actuals clock everything.

We had one idiot who decided to have three thirty minute breaks!!

People say they can't take lapsing, come back early and the DIM looks on the actuals and confronts them the next day!

People are so idiotic sometimes.

PDA's will kill jobs in the end and people will be their own worst enemies...

Toilet break would be no problem, shopping off route could land you in trouble vans are not for personal use.

Manager today asking why a certain loop took longer today than it had the previous two weeks on the same day....... Pretty sure thats misuse of the PDA data by the manager.... Unless they've went live...
