Getting big grief over 2D barcodes ie not scanning enough !!!
What's unions take on this .

Scan everyone, if you don't your off your head.
Shows on the pda actuals your doing more work..
Scan less makes your walk look less busy.
Get more work eventually simples

double barcodes are a pain, if you scan the 1d long barcode, just scan it again to cancel it and then scan the 2d.
yes I know the result is the same but they want the 2d one scanned only if there is two barcodes.

I always scan the 1d barcode and still get about 97% scan rate each week on 2ds.

I think the minimum target figure for zapping 2D barcodes is 90% which gives you quite a bit of leeway for any genuine mistakes such as the postage being fixed not near the address or distorted postage labels which you can't manage to zap. If you consistently get a low percentage score you will get it in the neck. Currently missing 2D barcodes is not classed as seriously as forgetting to zap a tracked or SD item for which you could in theory lose your job over. It has been suggested to me that eventually 2D barcodes will be classed as important, in terms of making sure you zap them, as SDs and tracked but we aren't there yet. At the end of the day it isn't rocket science and you should be able to get over 90% each week with no problems. Our DO as a guide routinely gets 98% or 99% each week on the 2D barcodes so we are usually top in our area.

The 2D barcode scores are derived purely from letters/flats/packets/parcels with ONLY the square 2D barcode affixed on them. The 2D barcodes on signed for, SD, and tracked items do not count towards the 2D barcode scores for walks & DOs as a whole.

scan EVERYTHING but those 2D barcodes are a nightmare for NOT scanning.

they can be, but easily over 90% of the time you can scan the 2d barcodes

The most common reason for 2D barcodes being difficult or impossible to scan is bad practice on behalf of staff in post offices. This usually is because:
a) the barcode is affixed on the corner or edge of a square parcel or on the curve of a parcel or tube.
b) the barcode sticker is affixed hastily and gets creased or folded.
c) the barcode sticker is smudged while affixing or being printed.

Sorry My friend but it should be second nature by now.In My office it’s the same people pulled up for this and there are some who still claim dud PDA etc.Its isn’t they just don’t bother.

I scan all mine but I haven't a clue what the success rate is because it's been well over a year since a manager actually read out the statistics. Group huddles, WTLL - these are all things that fall by the wayside to make lapsing possible.

Most 2d don't have normal barcodes

Might be a daft question, but I've never actually been trained/coached on what to scan. On the tracked, is it the square barcode, or the one with the tracking code below/above it?

Try the 2D barcode first (the square shaped one), if that won't scan then try the 1D barcode (the rectangular shaped one).
