THEY’RE A SANDWICH SHORT OF A PICNIC
What was this all about? RM had the brilliant idea of
recruiting casuals AFTER the Black Cyber Bloody Week! Are
they a bit slow or playing dumb? We need extra hands all
year round - but we definitely need them BEFORE the sales
madness. As for not having the cash to recruit more
workers, well, we know where they can find the money…
on Richie Rich's Back and in RM's big shareholders'
pockets...

WE WON'T CLEAR THEIR MESS
What a mad system they've put together! With RM's one
late collection per day, HMP looks like a war zone after 7pm,
even if the vans don’t make it! The yorks just queue up
endlessly! There is no way we can clear the workload… and
why should we even try? This mess is RM's own making,
for them to sort it!

HE CAN’T LEAVE WELL ALONE
“He seeks them here, he seeks them there, he seeks those
yorkies everywhere”, sending them all over the place - and
back again, especially where they’re not wanted! Yes it’s B
the bumbling Bee, buzzing crazily again and making chaos
out of order - because he just can’t help it...

GOING WEST
We hear from Greenford that they're being flooded with both
1st and 2nd class Packets coming from MP! But what will
happen after Xmas, with fewer hands and with all the
packets we can expect from the January sales? They
expect us to prepare for Black Friday: Part 2?

MORE MATADORS NEEDED...
Some of us on nights think that those temporarily enlarged
“bullrings” should be made permanent - not just during
Xmas… We’re all for working together with more of us to
share the heavy work! And yes, that’d mean giving casuals
permanent jobs and part-timers the full-time contracts they
want!

“MANAGING THE SURPLUS”
Yet what we read here in the “Joint” letter (from the boss &
union official) on the resign, is that redundancies are to be
completed before the end of the financial year - so as to
avoid a “surplus” of workers “as an outcome of the
revision”!! Cutting our numbers instead of increasing them
not only condemns us to longer hours (aren’t we aiming for
shorter hours?!!) and the unemployed outside to remain so,
but it means we’re to be overloaded whenever it gets busy,
for whatever reason. And surely part-timers should be made
up first?

HOW CAN “GOOD” WORK BE “CASUAL”?
And by the way, we DON’T agree with the RM bosses
making up our numbers with temps. Not outside of Xmas,
and even then! But this use of temps all year round happens
at many MCs - including Greenford. Whatever happened to
the “union” refusal???

POSITIVELY BRILLIANT “PART-NERSHIP”
Talking of this “London Central Joint Briefing” on the resign
of duties, we see we’re urged to “Be Positive”, “Be Brilliant”
and “Be Part of It”... Honestly? Maybe the joint authors
should apply these empty slogans to themselves. The resign
has been postponed month after month - and now we see
this letter has no date! So when exactly is the “this week”
that our VR formal offers are to arrive? Since we’ve only 2
weeks to send our response, better not put it in the post!

HANDS OFF OUR WEEKLY PAY!!
What’s this about putting PFS workers on monthly pay by
February - and only offering a small loan (not even a full 4-
week’s pay!!) to cover us? NO! This is just not acceptable!
Why can’t they just leave us alone - many of us have been
on weekly pay for all our working lives so why should we
accept to change now? How dare PFS/Royal Mail try to
save these peanuts which they spend on payroll, on our
backs?
PS: is it because they consider us an “easy” target after the
CWU turned this down for postal workers?

“DEVOLUTING” US?
We see that on Xmas eve and New Year’s eve we can come
in early and finish early if we’re on Lates. OK. But we really
don’t want to be “devoluted”, please. It sounds like some
kind of medieval torture. Unless it means we’ll be able to
rule ourselves, like Scotland..?

TRY NOT TO WET YOUR PANTS
Why should we be surprised that MP bosses failed to make
contingency plans for the current building works situation of
defunct toilets? Well, we’ll just have to take as long as it
takes, when we “have to go” - that is, if we get there in
time...

IN NEED OF PROFESSIONAL HELP
Us PFS cleaners were a little surprised to be told last Thurs
by the “Elephant in the Room” himself, that we could speak
to him about mental health problems! Really? Does that
mean he’ll stop contributing to them? His latest “therapy” is
to call up seriously ill cleaners to ask when they’re coming
back to work - instead of asking them how they’re feeling
and sending them flowers and chocolates!

£200... FOR OUR DAMAGING OUR HEALTH?
We now have a letter from RM given out at WTS -
confirming that ridiculous one-off offer of £200 (to be paid
after the famous revision, next year!) to compensate us over
the next 2 years (minimum!) for the hazard to our health of
the on-going building works. Frankly we can only be
astonished at the bosses incredible carelessness.
