Christmas week leave?

So I have christmas week leave this year, and apparantly I may have to come in on christmas eve, because it falls on a monday, no time off before christmas?. I have been here over 11 years and have never heard this, can they do this, Sureley this should of flagged up when picking christmas leave.

ive never known of ANY office that allows leave over the xmas pressure. after Christmas maybe. but definitely not before Christmas eve. so its more than likely to be correct. only leave available BEFORE that is ''sick leave''

It kind of does.
What he is pointing out is that the exact Christmas pressure period varies from unit to unit. It should have been pointed out to you when you took this week that Monday 24th was unavailable but perhaps they assumed you knew.

it normally tells you on your annual leave application forms. it does at ours. it specifically states ''do NOT apply for weeks marked in dark grey. and they are ALL grey in December up till after boxing day.

Yes you will have to go unless Christmas Eve is your normal day off.
Holidays only allowed after Christmas i.e. Thursday 27 onwards (25+26 being Bank Holidays for all)

OP, we were allowed to book annual leave for w/c 24th Dec but were we specially told it does not include 24th.

The test is how many days have they taken off your card?

If you have annual leave booked for 24th December in error you must report for work. If you do the 'Wallington Week' or rotating day off for your rest week/day then you can have the day off with pleasure. Don't understand why this wasn't arranged better, Xmas Eve is dead and the staff are not needed surely? They might try to lapse deliveries!

Christmas eve = Christmas pressure. therefore your leave starts on the 27th.

Christmas Eve is dead? I wish it was. Last year certainly wasn’t! Yes, parcels not too bad but very high call rate due to Christmas cards.

They are trying the same thing at our place, that week isn’t blocked out as Christmas pressure so as far as I’m concerned I’m off on the Monday !

We've got 8 on leave that week, it was available to book. We've also got 7 duties not covered that week

Rest week will be different from annual leave
