No one has been sacked for anything leaving door to doors sickness anything but the bully frightens people

Same in every office now, thing there scared to get rid of people because they except they will have no staff, they don’t even take the white straps off door to door at ours, sickness is through the roof but nobody ever gets the sack, I don’t want people to lose the jobs but sometimes you have to be firm with people or they just walk all over you. Some will not do delivery because they say they’ve got this wrong with them so they just let them do light duties long term.
Bullying seems to be a big issue in Royal Mail at the moment I thought when a lad from Birmingham hanged himself because of bullying at work things would change but no it’s always kicking of at ours people fighting on the floor, harassment like a prison but nothing ever changes.

Ages ago we had one postie in our office who was utterly dislikable, made a lot of mistakes and errors, and also bullied a few of the other posties. Other stuff such as always going sick on a Saturday etc. He got called up on it but the union always came in to defend him. Eventually he left to get a different job elsewhere and I haven't seen him since. There was a rumour recently he wanted to come back even!!!
There seems to have been a spate of RM sacking or suspending posties for doing things incorrectly which have resulted in office walkouts so maybe it isn't all one way. With the appointment into RM of a guy from BA and bad employee relations there the rumour is posties will soon be more in the firing line. The word is don't cock up on 'quality of service' type issues otherwise you may be out on your neck.

Bullying managers and royal mail go hand in hand. I've had it many times and all that happens is that managers get rotated to different offices. I suppose if you are following the over-running procedure you have to stand your ground with pushy managers,heck I've even had one manager beg and plead with me to take work out that I didn't want to,and I think to myself what is this company becoming??

Bullying management never lose Thier jobs , they just get shunted from office to office , that's why the culture of bullying will never disappear. In my old office we have just got back a bullying Dom from a year ago , he's been told he's not aloud to speak to certain members of staff from his last round of bullying. You couldn't make it up. Only at RM. This should be a great job , and would be if they sacked all the bullys , I suppose then they wouldn't have no Dom's or managers at all.
