What happens if my car is damaged because there’s not enough spaces in the delivery office car park

You make a claim on your insurance , RM don't have to supply you with a parking space.

In fact you have more protection parking on public roads than on RM property as RM do not accept responsibility for any damaged to cars parked on their property. There will be a sign somewhere stating that.

But that does not mean they can't be held liable. If someone crashes their (Royal Mail),van into my car, which is or was, legitimately parked on Royal Mail premises then they are liable.

We don't have enough room in our car park for more than half of the vehicles we actually use on delivery. Royal Mail pays £370 per year per vehicle to park them at the local railway station. Even our DOM has to use local street parking and hope that nothing collides with his car.

But it does mean that if your car is hit by another postie's private vehicle and they don't inform you, Royal Mail have no obligation to assist you in identifying the culprit, and you have no claim against them.

Hopefully, they will help, but they have no legal duty to do so.
