Georoute ???

Does anyone know how georoute actually works. According to manager one of the longest walks in office is actually 20 mins short and wants to add more calls. WTF!!
And no, current walkholders are not runners and take proper breaks. Very rarely finish on time never mind early.

There is a line drawn down the centre of the road. From this line another line comes from it to wherever the delivery point is. These almost always have to be manually checked and inputted to be accurate. It then measures all of this lines and gives on top of that distance nine or ten seconds for each delivery.

Best to let them do what they want and simply work to time.

Georoute can only map what data is put in , RM planners will be lazy and just map to the " front door ". The parameters have to be manually changed to get a accurate reading. Like letter boxes on the sides/backs of houses , properties not accessed from the road , speed limits not indicated by the type of road ie 20mph zones on urban roads , speed bumps etc. All these little things can add time to a duty that Georoute can not pick up.

Some of that RM should be able to get accurate data for from the PDA GPS provided that the jobs done properly (no cutting across people's grass, no running between delivery points, etc)

get him to use the all singing and dancing pda actuals as this is real time and takes it right to the letter box ,

Seems like posties are constantly being pushed to their limits,what extra do managers do,if anything?

Georoute/the current system to design walks isn't accurate. It draws information from sources such as electricity and gas supply lines so it isn't accurate or fit for purpose. A new system is being designed so I would say personally that no office should be using Georoute or doing walk redesign until we have the new system along with AHDC & PDA data in place.
What you need to do is get the DOM to come out on the walk where there is supposed to be a problem and time the delivery. They will be able to see it is being done properly and that it doesn't need more delivery points or even needs a reduction.

Everyone should be carrying the PDA with them to every doorstep now as that will provide full & complete data for RM and will likely make the job more possible to complete in the long run. Holsters to carry the PDA are available to order by your DOM - make sure you get the DOM to order one for you. There are two designs available.

Provided you stick to the official routes (not taking shortcuts, cutting across people's lawns, etc) in theory RM should be able to get fairly accurate data on the distances between delivery points, don't know if they can also get altitude data (for showing gradients)

Plus bet is doesn't take into account the rise in packets. It takes a lot longer than 8-10seconds to deliver them. Also the deliver to neighbour rubbish (me personally I don't do).

Only if you carry your pda everywhere you go. If you leave in bag it won't.

Yeah and very much doubt planner went out and counted those 30 stairs to each front door, or 30A that round back of house up 20 stairs.

The planner wouldn't have but someone else should have.
At the very least the duty holder should have pointed it out when they did the Sid and Sarah.

Simples. You just get the DOM to come out with you on delivery on a normal busy day and time you. It sounds like it will be obvious the walk is too long, and going by the figured you stated, that maybe more of the walks in your office are too long. RM is a very badly run business.
